Are we the only couple who feel this way?

ForeverMyLove, on December 9, 2012 at 11:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

FH and I are very excited about our wedding next winter. However, one aspect of the planning process that neither of us are really concerned about are the STDs and invitations. We want them to be a reflection of us, but we have been looking and are all looked out. His mother offered to help (which we were extremely grateful) but the invitations she choose where $300 (on sale) for 100 invitations. That means we would have to by 3 boxes as they only came 100 to a box. When we told her they were too expensive, she got upset, but never offered to buy them as a gift (which neither of us expected) So we decided to just go to DB online and purchase. Here are the top 5 picks.

I know we have never met, but I also know I can trust you ladies, so please tell me what you honestly think ladies.

I think they are all beautiful, but personally my favorite is the third. It seems a bit more modern than the others, and that's generally what I go for. (For once I don't have the most expensive taste lol! FW would never believe it!)

I really like #1 & #3 but that's my personal taste. Can you give us a little more of an idea of the theme you're going for in the wedding. That would help us give you a more informed opinion. As it stands I say #1 because I think it's the most versatile it's clasic but with a contemporary flair so it could go with just about any theme

Do you really need that many invitations? Remember to count only households, not individuals, in determining how many you need.

That being said, I like #1.

Try Michaels or Hobby Lobby...There is NO WAY I'd spend more than $100 for invites and the ones you can print at home still look great.

FYI: I ordered from Vistaprint and HATED them so I went to Michaels and spend $30 with coupons for 100 invites

I'm with the rest of everyone. How many people are you inviting if you need 300 invitations?

A wedding with 300 guests is HUGE! And you send an invitation to a household, not each individual guest. You probably only need 100 invites.

As a side note $3/invite isn't too bad. But remember a few things- the more inserts, the more it weighs. Postage for wedding invties starts at $0.64 and goes up. That will be $1.05 per invitation TO MAIL... To many people forget to factor that in when they estimate their costs. And don't forget teh additional $.43 for the stamp on the RSVP card. You're already at $1.50 per invitation and you haven't even bought them yet.

But really-if you're thinking $3 is too much for professional invitation, then you really need to consider cutting your guest list. And look for less expensive places. DB isn't exactly known for being cheap for those.

I definitely felt this way! It took me a little while, but I ordered Samples and finally figured it out. I did take a break looking for a while too, and that helped. I like number 3, but I think you may want to see if you can get a sample.
