Did you try on a dress you know you can't afford?

Kelly, on September 18, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 72

We all know we’re “not supposed to”, but during your hunt for the perfect dress - did you ever try on a dress that you knew was way out of your price range? Are you innocent or guilty ?

Next Question: Have you lied about your venue's capacity to justify not inviting someone?

Nope. I specifically went to a small boutique that didn't carry dresses out of my budget so there would be no temptation.

Technically no. But one dress I tried on was on the high side of my budget and once I had tried that dress on I knew I wasn’t comfortable spending that much on a dress. I went with a different dress that was on the lower side of my budget.

Ugh yes. We hadn't set a date yet so I went with the one local bridesmaid to some bridal boutiquesin Boca Raton where we lived- I had no intention of buying, but I wanted to see what kids of dresses I liked. This dress was like $6k (budget was $1k) but goodness was it amazing. Blush ballgown handmade in Sicily with a huge train and swarovski crystals and the works- and the sample size fit me! The dress I chose for like $800 is similar but in soft white and not as incredible, but I still love it.

I don't think I tried on anything too crazy expensive. One dress was more than the budget but not by a huge amount.

Such a good idea!! I should probably do this as well since I always like to push the limits when it comes to budgets!

I almost did. I had it in the room with me but it was full length with a train and I didn't really want full length but it was pink so I was sure I'd love it. Thankfully I loved the 3rd dress and stopped trying them on

My budget was $1,500 but if you bought the dress the same day as the appointment you got 20% off. The dress I ended up buying was $1,600 before the discount and I think the most expensive dress was $1,800 before the discount, but they were all under budget after the discount (with the exception of taxes on the pricier dresses). My dress ended up being just under budget, taxes included so it was perfect!

Yes. It is a stunning, elegant, peach/lilac Haylie Page dress. $5,100.00 tho. NOT what I want, can or should spend! But it IS pretty and gave me ideas of what I Can do w/one in my budget!

Guilty! My MOH picked it out, and I asked the price, and at first I wanted her to put it back on the rack but a bridesmaid encouraged me to at least try it on. Well, I tried it on and fell in love. My dad actually bought it for me!

No and I wish I did! I tried on dresses that were maybe $100-200 out of budget, but nothing crazy. Might have to make an appointment again one day just to try on the multi-thousand dollar dresses just because! Lol.

It sounds stunning!! Sometimes it's nice to have a dress as inspiration in which you find a similar one within the price range!

Nope!! My mom kept trying to get me to and I said no. I didn't want to fall in love with something I knew I couldn't have. So I found the perfect dress, 3 dresses in, and stayed within my budget.

Nope! I called ahead to the stores in my area to make sure they had dresses in my budget (and preferred style) before I even made an appointment. Once I had this information then I made sure to let the salesperson know when we arrived that I only wanted to see dresses in my price range. I knew going into it that I wasn't willing to blow the budget for a dress and would seriously regret it.

Almost guilty. The one I bought was the absolute top of my range, over with taxes.

No, but I did end up increasing my budget several hundred dollars in order to try on dresses that were more my style!
