Did you register for a vacuum?

ShortStack, on September 7, 2016 at 6:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 35

If so, what did you decide on? We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to register on Monday and a store associate was talking to us about the vacuums. I know that Dyson is super popular, but he recommended another brand due to us having hairy golden retrievers. The price wasn't marked ( I should have known) and they said they'd work on finding it for me. On the way home I was checking the registry print out and the vacuum cost almost $700. I know we are supposed to put a wide variety of prices on our registry, but I just feel so uncomfortable putting that on. I am leaning towards the Dyson now, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any recommendations.

We registered for the lowest grade dyson they had ($400) and I'm not getting my hopes up at receiving it - so I would be super uncomfortable with a $700 one on there!!

If you're looking for a dyson though, I know they have the dyson animal which is supposed to be great for lots of pet hair, but I think they run in the $500 range.

A good vacuum is a good investment though. Even if you don't get it as a gift, you'll probably get gift cards and cash to use toward it if you so choose.

We have a vacuum but if we were doing a registry I wouldn't mind getting a roomba...

I have the Dyson Animal Mini for my pit/boxer mix. (It's the purple one). The mini is about $100 less than the regular, and the only difference is that the cup is smaller. I empty it after every use and it is perfect.

Get a roomba! We have two cats and that thing picks up all of their hair. FILs gave it to us for Christmas last year; we run it like every other day and it makes our home feel so clean.

We registered for a Shark that is $500 at Macy's, but it's always on sale. And we found the exact same model at Costco for $180, so if we don't receive it for the wedding, we can purchase it there!

We registered for a Dyson (which we did not receive) but then used a coupon and gift cards to buy a Shark after the wedding. We have nothing but amazing things to say about the Shark, it picks up both our cat and dog hair on the carpet and hardwood floors.

We registered for & received a Shark and we love it! It works so well & was definitely a better price than a Dyson.

We registered for 2 Dyson vacuums. The D50 Animal, and the cordless stick vacuum. Both are absolutely amazing. We vacuumed with our old Bissell first, came back with the Dyson Animal and filled the canister. I would be really upset if the Dyson ever broke it works THAT good. We were gifted both vacuums for our wedding. I'm very fortunate to have an awesome brother. *We have a pitbull, a jack russell/chihuahua, and 2 cats, so hair is EVERYWHERE.

We don't have big animals in our homes (my sister had rabbits), so my input here probably doesn't help but my mom has owned literally 2 vacuum cleaners since I was a kid and they're both Hoovers. My sister has one and I have the other. The one my sister has is probably 20 years old and still kicking and the one I have is probably at least 10 years old.

We already have a German shepherd/hound dog mix who sheds like crazy. I want to get a cat, and FH wants a golden retriever. I knew an upgraded vacuum would be a good plan of action! we registered for the big ball animal Dyson. Even if we aren't gifted it we'll be using gift cards we've already received to put towards it :-)

ETA if it was regular price and not sale price we wouldn't have registered for it btw. i don't think I'd want something that costs so much on my registry!

We already have a full sized vacuum, but we registered for a Shark mini and a Bissell carpet cleaner (which we got). My parent's have had a Dyson for years; their one complaint is they wish they'd gotten a different model, since the upright is becoming difficult for my mom to maneuver.

We have a Shark and love it! We also have a small hand vac for quick clean-ups of pet hair on the couch. I wish we'd registered for it, we forgot and ended up buying it after the fact.

I registered for a vacuum. My mom got it for us before she died. And my brother used it while he was preparing her house to sell and broke it. So now we have no vacuum.

Some Dysons void carpet manufacturers' warranties, so check it out first! We didn't register for a vacuum, but we have the Hoover Pet Rewind 2 or 3 and it's amazing. And it was only $99 at Costco. H thought it'd be a POS at the price point, but I have not been disappointed.

We also registered for the dyson multifloor upright that is $300 and the shark handheld pet one that is $60 - the woman that helped us in the store said she generally will always recommend the dyson over everything but that the shark pet one is the best for animal fur and the store is constantly selling out

We did an ultraShark at Macy's. Seeing as FH's aunt got us the first one way back when we moved in together (for Christmas), she's hinted she'll get us the upgraded fancy pants one.
