Did you register for a vacuum?

If so, what did you decide on? We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to register on Monday and a store associate was talking to us about the vacuums. I know that Dyson is super popular, but he recommended another brand due to us having hairy golden retrievers. The price wasn't marked ( I should have known) and they said they'd work on finding it for me. On the way home I was checking the registry print out and the vacuum cost almost $700. I know we are supposed to put a wide variety of prices on our registry, but I just feel so uncomfortable putting that on. I am leaning towards the Dyson now, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any recommendations.

At first I felt weird about registering for expensive items but we are doing it for the sole purpose of getting it ourselves after the wedding using the discount given to registry users. I think a lot of people would understand that.

Working part time in a dept. store, I feel like sharks are the most popular for those who have hairy pets. But a roomba is also a solid investment. My parents bought one a few years ago, it's nice to not have to think about vacuuming.

FH is the vacuum connoisseur so we registered for the $400 Dyson at BBB. We already have a Shark and it works great for all of the hair - we don't have pets but I shed like an animal. We know that someone will likely not get it for us but want to use the 20% off to get it ourselves when we complete the registry.

I love my Shark and I actually registered for another one because my shark has taken a beating in the last year with 2 big hairy dogs. The Shark Navigator Lift Away is the one I'm dying to have. It's about $200!

Thank you all for your input! I've decided on the Shark Rocket TruePet Upright. My sister also recommended a shark and she has the same kind of dog as us, but is more of a clean freak. I figured it has to be good then lol

We were going to, but then my MIL bought us one of those cordless Dysons. Which, for our townhouse, is the PERFECT size and I love it!!!

We registered (and received) a Shark. Not as pricey as the Dyson, but just as good. I forget which model it is, but it's in the $200-300 range.

I am an owner of a cleaning business. As nice as Dyson's are, I enjoy using the shark just as much for a fraction of the cost.

We registered for the Dyson Animal big ball. I'm kind of a dork, but I would be SO excited if someone got it for us. It looks like the Ford Expedition of vacuum cleaners and I'd love to drive that thing!

We have a roomba on the list. If we don't get it, we are comfortable buying it ourselves using the completion discounts. We have a couple of expensive items on the list because we really want those items and the 10%-20% completion discounts is better than nothing.

I bought a Shark professional grade one for $160 and it works wonderful. It comes with hook up for pet hair and cleaning high spaces

We registered for a Dyson, but I'm not sure I'll get that lucky.

We registered for and received the Shark. I haven't used it yet, but it looks great and I think it was around $250. I understand not wanting to put a $700 item on your registry.

We did! We bought a Shark Navigator Liftaway:

Its a boss on our cat's hair! Its also lightweight for me to carry it up and down the 3 flights of stairs in our townhouse.
