Did you know he was going to propose?

We had talked about getting married for at least a couple years or more (together almost 5, living together almost 4), so we both felt it wasn't a matter of if, but when. However, he proposed at our family Christmas (the 23rd), with my mom, niece and his daughter present (my sister and her BF were planned to be there). Never did I except he would propose on a holiday, and definitely not in front of family. So it was a total surprise and I was in complete shock!! Like a deer in headlights! Lol

I had no idea. We each knew from the first day we met that we were mentioning to be. We actually talked about getting married and went looking at rings after just 2 weeks of knowing each other. But when it really happened I had absolutely no idea.

We’ve talked about getting married. But I thought towards the end of this year he would of asked. He definitely surprised me proposing. He asked me Mother’s Day with our kids wearing shirts and onesie saying will you marry daddy on them. My ring was in the roses my son was holding. And all I was expecting was Dunkin’ Donuts breakfast lol. And I got engaged!

We had talked about it for years and sometimes I would get really impatient. In the year or so before he finally did propose, our discussions were more serious and we bought a house together. The day he did it, I was completely shocked. I had no idea it was coming anytime soon. I had no idea he had my engagement ring and had been paying it off for a almost a year before he proposed.

We talked about getting married before (and some of his teammates were asking if he was planning on proposing soon). When he did, I guess 10% of me knew, but 90% had no idea.

We had talked about getting married a lot actually. My FH set this whole thing up to propose and I'm pretty sure any other person would have thought he was about to pop the question but since it was the weekend after my birthday I just thought it was a big gift and to be completely honest, I wasn't expecting it for another year or 2 at least since he was close to finishing up school and we were practically living in 2 different states. I was beyond surprised and cried like a baby.

We talked about eloping before getting engaged. I knew it was coming and had contacted venues and started pricing stuff. I knew I was going to get my great grandmother’s ring. I knew the day of because he basically forced me to take off of work then he tried to cover by having friends come over. In the end, I basically planned it but not every detail because I decided what we were doing with said friends.

We had talked about getting married so much. The year before (2017), I really thought he was going to do it but the year ended and we weren't engaged so I thought he was going to wait. I ended up being very surprised when he did it on our anniversary of this year. Cried my eyes out.

For us it was always a matter of when, so my rings had been picked out for 2 yrs. When FH landed his dream job we immediately set a date. 2 months after he started his new job he bought my ring. He offically proposed the day he bought it. I thought it was coming while out at dinner but instead he waited until we got home and proposed with a poem he wrote in front of my children.

When FH proposed, we were on a spontaneous trip in Mexico, had been dating for nearly 8 years (living together for 4 years at the time), and I wasn't expecting a thing! We had talked about when we get married and yadda yadda but I had gotten past the point of expecting him to propose that I really thought it wasn't going to happen lol.

We talked about getting married before but tbh I got tired of waiting & never thought it was going to happen lol We took a trip to Paris & London & I had actually broken up with him, but we went anyway as friends since it was prepaid. We went on a tour of the Eiffel Tower & it had been hot almost every day but that day it was cold & rained lol smh He wanted to take a picture (so he said) and right when I was getting ready to complain about him taking forever he was on one knee! I was so surprised that my first response was “What are you doing?” Lol Obviously I said yes 😊

My guy is a truck driver so he's gone for long periods of time. I accidentally ended up getting him a puppy for Valentine's Day. We had been looking for one to keep him company in the truck. My sister's friend had a rescue that gave birth right before Christmas. I told my sister to tell the lady I wanted the runt before they were even a day old. Long story short, he proposed when he got home. It was my day off and I had slept in. I woke up to him going down on his knee. No clue it was happening. Lol

We had talk about getting married the last 3 years (together 6 1/2 years). My FH hosted a graduation party for me May 5 to celebrate me receiving my associates degree. During the party all our friends and family came to together for prayer before we ate, FH gave me a small bag with a plastic light bulb and inside of the light bulb was memories made throughout our relationship. Once i was done reading all the messages, he got down and proposed in front of everyone while his best friend recorded the whole thing. I was definitely SHOCKED!!!!

We had been together for eight years when he proposed and I accepted, but FH had asked twice before already and I said no - not for not wanting to marry him, but it wasn't the right time, the first time he didn't have a ring...anyway. We knew we would get married some time or another. I had planned to propose to him around his birthday, which is a couple of weeks after mine, because I didn't want him to go through asking again. He ended up asking on my birthday. I knew he was working up a surprise gift, but I didn't expect the proposal right then.

Not a total surprise. We had talked about it and picked out the ring together, as well as visiting venues and booking a deposited date. So getting engaged wasn’t a surprise, but the actual proposal how and when were. He held on to the ring a couple months.

We had talked about getting married before we moved in together, but never talked about when. His family planned a big trip to Puerto Rico but it never dawned on me he would propose (although all my close friends apparently saw it coming). I didn’t even think about it because I know he’s not big on PDA and had commented on how he doesn’t like big events in front of people (he said this after my cousin was proposed to in front of our entire family at Christmas). He ended up proposing when we took a walk down a secluded beach, away from his family. Only his Mom knew what was about to happen since she had kept the ring in her luggage and his Uncle, who he told over drinks he night before after he had decided where he wanted to propose.

Sidenote: My ring used to be his mom’s. She had given it to him years earlier for when he met “the one.” Apparently, I almost found it when I was helping him pack when we decided to move in together. I even had it in my hand with no clue what was in the little cloth bag.

I’ve been together for almost 4 years and have lived together for 2 years. I kind of had a feeling it would be happening but didn’t know when.

I knew it was, it was just a matter of when. DH forgot to delete a statement from the bank which I saw. I kind of had an idea when because we had a trip to Hawaii booked a couple months later. I seriously to this day hate myself for ruining our engagement. But anyways a couple days into the trip he got down on one knee at sunset on the beautiful beach behind our hotel.
