Did you end up with a completely different dress than planned?

I thought that I wanted an A-line dress. I said I didn't want a ball gown. Guess what, I have a ball gown! Looked a lot more elegant and better on me. Had no idea I would look that good in it. I knew I wanted strapless and that is what I have.

I bought what I thought was my dream dress, a fully beaded ivory sheath dress. I tried it on in champaign and when it came the “ivory” was much closer to the champaign than I anticipated and I just hated it. So, 6 weeks before my wedding I needed a brand new dress and ended up with the perfect ballgown even though I swore that was a style I’d never wear.

I started out looking for ideas on Pinterest. I went to my local bridal shop and stopped into a little wedding boutique shop. Then i went to a costume store and i just wasnt seeing what i wanted. Heck i really didn't know what i wanted but knew i would know it when i found ot. All i knew is that it needed to fit the Pirate theme. While looking on Pinterest for ideas i noticed all the styles i was liking on were Steampunk. I then looked up where to find steampunk clothing and found a boutique in Portland,OR that carried steampunk and specialized in corsets. With that in mind I drove up there to see what style corset i liked. When i walked in the door the staff was very friendly and helpful. I started looking and immediately i saw a dress that I had looked at several times on Pinterest. I tried it on and immediately fell in love with the dress, so i bought it right away.

I absolutely did.. I wanted a fitted mermaid style dress (which was his request). I brought one because it was on sale..hated it. Then brought a second because it had long sleeves and was fitted (without trying it on) When it arrived I was so excited but I looked like SpongeBob. You know kinda boxy figure. Sooooo.....I allowed my bridal party to pick the third dress which is a princess gown made even larger with my huge petticoat. I then went to Macys where I found the cutest high low dress for my reception. So I am the proud owner of four dresses. I will wear two and later sell the other two. Whew...what a circus this dress thing has been.

I imagined wearing a ball gown or A line with lace full sleeves. And Instead I ended up with a fit and flare strapless dress. And I am so in love with it

I thought I wanted a ball gown with a layered skirt. I knew I wanted strapless sweetheart neckline. I ended up getting a gorgeous ball gown with floral detail and it’s ivory and champagne. Can’t wait to say I Do 5/23/20.

Yes and no! I wanted a budget dress that was less than $1,000 and ended up just liking one that was similar in style to my dream dress. I bought it, since it was only $400 - I didn't want to pass up the opportunity! A few months later (I have been engaged for two years), I found my dream dress and haggled the price down to be a little over budget. So in the end I ended up with a different dress than I thought I would have but also ended up with the style of dress that I knew I wanted.

Yes! I fell in love with a Justin Alexander gown that was plain, A-line, with long sleeves and beading only on the back online. However, when I actually went shopping I ended up falling in love with an off-the-shoulder gown with 3/4 sleeves, a mermaid silhouette, and lace all over.

I went in wanting something with sleeves and a poofy tulle skirt. I ended up getting this beauty! I wanted sleeves so bad but when I put on the dresses with sleeves I felt so uncomfortable. There was one that I loved, but the sleeves were so uncomfortable that my skin was actually red and irritated from them. The I tried on this one and felt so comfortable and it was so romantic feeling, I fell in love. Took that dress home that day. I wish I had a good picture without the flowers though. Lol.

I want one of those 2 dresses originally because I wanna do lace & boots country wedding but somehow got this dress stuck in my mind too

Your dress is SO gorgeous That neckline is fab on you! Did you get the veil also?

I kept gravitating to a sheath silhouette when I'd look online, but when I went shopping I ended up with the trusty A-Line. Everything else about the dress (fabric, color) was right in line with what I had initially wanted though. I'd post a picture, but my fiance and I have a joint account on here and I don't want him to see it, but I have it on Instagram (he doesn't use it) 8bitbek.

I wanted a mermaid dress and ended up getting a Vera Wang dress that is not mermaid style dress. Definitely wasn’t expecting it.

Hi Michelle I was open minded about getting my dress.. this is my second marriage so I didn’t want anything over the top. I did not want to spend a lot of money and just when I thought I was going to settle on something a better deal came up and it pretty much had the look of what I wanted to wear it fell into place. I LOVE my dress.
