I ended up with exactly what I envisioned! It's funny because I asked the staff member helping me, there are so many to choose from--how do you pick? She said, go with what you always imagined. I tried on dress #3, and I instantly knew it was the one...what I had always pictured me wearing at my wedding! Ball gown was what I had wanted in my heart all along, and that is what I picked!

Nope! I got exactly what I envisioned and more! So happy I was able to actually get what I wanted!!
Lol, mine is so exactly what I thought I would get that it checks every single box on my wedding dress checklist (which I typed up and printed out several copies before shopping because I am apparently the definition of extra).
That being said, I wear dresses every single day, and dress up often so I generally know what colors and silhouettes look good on me and what features I love. If you mostly wear jeans and rarely dress up, you are more likely to end up with something different than planned.

Now I can add myself to the thread to officially respond lol. What I imagined: Mermaid, long sleeve lace...no strapless or spaghetti straps! What I got: spaghetti strap, fit and flare...I also ended up liking strapless dresses also. I did get one thing right, I really love lace lol.
For the most part, I knew what style I wanted. I had envisioned a ball gown type. But I went with A Line. My dress was probably the 6th I tried on, and after that I kept comparing every other dress to that one, and I just knew. I always thought growing up, I'd have the beautiful white gown. But I'm glad I was wrong. I'm absolutely in love with my dress and can't wait to wear it! My experience couldn't have been better.

I wanted a white ballgown with floral appliques, beading, off-shoulder sleeves, plunging sweetheart neckline, corset back, and horsehair hemline.
I went to about 4 boutiques before ordering online the dress that met all my requirements. I also wanted to be able to add to it myself, so I am adding the 3d flowers to the bodice right now, and will be sewing appliques to the bottom.

I did! Everything went smoothly and according to plan. Everyone raved about the food at the venue, very important so I’m glad that went well for sure. I feel a lot less stressed now that it’s done.
