Destination Weddings: Overrated or Underrated?

What's your stance on destination weddings? Are they underrated (beautiful location, awesome excuse to travel, easy way to splurge on a smaller guest list)? Or a little too complicated? Definitely underrated! I had a beautiful destination wedding and it was everything I asked for. Intimate, fun and beautiful!

Underrated for the married couple, overrated for the guests.

Underrated. It’s too expensive for me, but the ceremony is intimate and expresses each couple’s individuality.

Underrated hands down! I am having a destination wedding. It is soooo much easier. I have had a wedding before to know the difference.

    Neither.
I wish we would have went with a small destination wedding.

Overrated. People keep telling me to go away for my wedding, but I’d rather be with my family on my wedding day and spend the extra money to get away for the honeymoon for some one on mine time with my hubby! ❤️

Neither really, like stated above they are beautiful and more intimate, but also I think they could make things way more complicated and cost more. But they are beautiful! Also a lot of guests couldn’t afford it, or can’t get off of work or just won’t travel.

Depends on the location, time of year, and size of the guest list. I think they work better for a smaller number of guests from a logistics standpoint. We though about having a beach wedding this year-- hurricane season overruled us. We're getting married in my hometown and it still has destinationesque qualities for our guests.

I think they’re underrated! If we didn’t have such huge families we’d love to have a destination wedding. Save a lot of money on everything else and be right there for a honeymoon.

I love them. I am doing a quasi-destination wedding. We're getting married an hour away from home, but both our families live in other states so they're traveling to us. Otherwise I was going to have to plan a wedding (or let me mother plan it and THAT wasn't happening) in another state. I really wanted the Caribbean wedding, or Hawaiian, and to keep it tiny, but my mother wasn't having that at all.

It’s not for me, but it’s what many others love! So I wouldn’t say either- it’s a personal determination

I think it's not for everyone and I don't think it's any more complicated then a local wedding. In general wedding planning is stressful no matter what. I am having a destination wedding because we are doing an underwater scuba diving wedding which cannot be done locally so that being said I think it's underrated.

Definitely overrated. If I were to go somewhere fancy to get married, it would be as small and intimate as possible. I just think it's too much hassle and money to travel far away to get married and have to coordinate everything. I'd rather just do a destination honeymoon, which is what I'm doing anyway.
