What's your stance on destination weddings? Are they underrated (beautiful location, awesome excuse to travel, easy way to splurge on a smaller guest list)? Or a little too complicated? Underrated, if we had an unlimited budget I would have loved to have a destination wedding in Italy or Spain, FH would have chosen Hawaii

Underrated!! I looooove destination weddings!! Not only does it keep the guest list intimate, but also provides everyone in attendance with a mini vacation! A wedding is supposed to be a celebration, what better way to celebrate?!

Both. If you expect everyone to be able to save money and take time off for a destination wedding, you're being selfish and that's overrated.
However, if you know not everyone can make it and you're totally fine with that because all that matters is that you and your soon to be spouse are there, then it's a great plan. Especially if you are more in favor of eloping, very underrated.

Underrated. They can be really great for people who want small weddings while also being a vacation for their guests.

Eh I think it can go either way. Just depends on the couple and what they are expecting out of their guests

If you can afford it and the important people in your life can all make it then it'd be ok. Personally I think they are a little overrated.

Easy way to have a smaller guest list and go straight into your honeymoon.

Underrated. If I could afford one I would do it. How romantic and intimate would it be to have a destination wedding.

I don't really have an opinion on this because we're not having one, and I've never attended any. I think there's definitely pros and cons

I think they're underrated. Sort of wish we were having one! Different things to stress about – but less people to invite and more money spent on a longer period of time vs just one day in your hometown.

I thought they were overrated and extravagant- until I realized they can actually be cheaper for the host. However I think it is an extravagance that can become strenuous on guests.... Not to mention I wouldn't want my guests crashing my honeymoon, nor am I sure I would want to travel again to another destination after.

Underrated. I wish we were having one but we knew his grandmother who he is VERY close to will not travel. I think small and intimate ceremonies and receptions are just so much more special because you can mingle with everyone and remember conversations and all that. Those get lost with big weddings.

Underrated! I really wish to just elope, get married in Iceland where we got engaged.

Underrated. I think it’s a great way to have the wedding you want and allows guests to have a vacation.

Overrated. Too much hassle to plan for me. And expecting people to travel and spend more money than normal is not what I would want.

Definitely underrated. We were going to get married in Hawaii but then started talking about a family so we decided to no longer do that and just get married closer to home. Still a DW but now we're getting married in Northern CA instead.

Destination weddings are overrated if you want all your friends and family to be there, your asking them to spend extra money and time just to go see you for a few hours. Underrated if it's just you (and possibly a few friends) it's more intimate and kind of a once in a lifetime experience.
