Destination wedding on a Tuesday?

xINCOGNITOx, on August 19, 2010 at 10:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Is this a good idea for just parents, grandparents, siblings, and bridal party?

I want some opinions.

My cousin got married on a Wednesday afternoon at Disney and it was great. we were already on vacation so it did not matter when the ceremony was.

Did you pay your own accomodations or did the bride and groom?

If it is a true DW and you have to travel far and are staying a while, doesn't really matter what day!

Agreed! The people who care about you will be there no matter what day it is.

I think having it in the middle of the week will help with guest expenses also...not flying on a friday-monday will help reduce the cost to the guest...so I would even say do it on a wednesday or thursday...

We did ours on a friday so no would have to travel hungover if they were only coming for the weekend.

Well you've found a 100% surefire way of keeping your headcount low! haha! DW's are smaller anyway, in fact one third of my guest list isn't coming to mine. but if you have it on a weekday, where everyone needs to take time off work, that's going to effect their travel plans too. do it on whatever day YOU want, if it's because it's cheaper that day or whatever, that's fine. you should make sure your family can do it though, but if the people you want in the wedding party can't do a Tuesday DW, then I say choose someone else.

Mine is on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Most of most guests are staying in FL for the whole week of Thanksgiving afterwards.

We are going to Nags Head, NC and our wedding is on a Wednesday afternoon but we will be there from the Saturday before so no one will be inconvenienced with the ceremony in the middle of the week! Its a great budget saver and if you are already there, why not take full advantage of it!

I officiate destination weddings in the mornings, in the afternoons, and in the evenings of Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays here on the west coast of Florida.

I wanted a Tuesday wedding, but fiance didn't- because of himself and his family and their vacation time from work. I work shiftwork, so having a weekday wedding isn't difficult on using up my vacation hours. But they all work M-F and off every weekend, so they didn't like the idea of a Tuesday wedding. It's cheaper usually having a weekday wedding because of hotels/cabins, etc, and I'm now worried about traffic issues because i'm having a weekend wedding at a peak time in the Smoky Mountains. I had some bakeries tell me they were booked because of the busy weekend too, but luckily i've found someone to do my cake, but you are less likely to running into having issues with not finding vendors during the weekday Smiley smile

Our wedding was on a Tuesday, and was kind of an involuntary DW. (We are a same-sex couple, and at the time none of the local jurisdictions had same-sex marriage.) All of our immediate family and close friends managed to get there. The only ones who could not were my son's fiancee (in a master's program in which almost all her classes were on a Tuesday) and my daughter's boyfriend (recently started a new job and couldn't get the time off).
