Destination Wedding Locations!

Costa Rica (I am Costa Rican and been there many times, it's beautiful), Jamacia (reasonably priced), Cozumel (also reasonably priced), Saint Lucia (one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean, trying to see if we can go here for our honeymoon), and there are tons of resorts in the Bahamas. P.S. I am super upset about what's going on in the Dominican. We went there last September and loved everything about it. It was on our list of places for our honeymoon.

It's all good! I think we're gonna do something like the Bahamas or one of the Virgin Islands or Bermuda. He's been to Aruba, we did Turks once too so we wanna go somewhere new.

I just get excited about the idea of laying on the beach for a week straight! haha

Hahaha yeah, one little tip I can give you is to rent Airbnb apartments. We don't really like resorts and it's a better opportunity to learn about the culture. We did that for our honeymoon and we had a lot of fun, we just made sure we rented an apartment walking distance from different restaurants.

Hi Diana, I'm Dominican too and since I leave there I know the real situation, but I totally understand your guest's concern for not wanting to go there. We got married at a restaurant on a pier and it was a different approach than the traditional "resort wedding", so maybe you can look for that in another country. I'd try Mexico, Colombia or Costa Rica.

Thanks for the reply’s ladies! I’m definitely going to look into all these places. We just went to DR in May WITH his parents and they were the first to suggest we get married there. I like the idea because it’s familiar to me and I know how to deal with everyone being from the island myself. Going somewhere else scares me a little but I also don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately the news did that. I wasn’t even looking into getting married at a resort there

Sandals Resorts will give you a free wedding at their resorts if you book at least three days there. It’s mostly all inclusive including food and cake and flowers. Plus the places are super beautiful.
