Destination wedding in Italy

Chris, on June 6, 2019 at 9:56 AM Posted in Planning 1 6
Hi all,

My fiancé and I were looking to get married in Italy, and I just wanted to reach out to anyone with experience or recommendations? We plan on a smaller 25-35 people, intimate, outdoorsy feeling/type wedding. We’ve also considered an Airbnb type wedding but as of now just bouncing ideas around trying to lock something down. We’re looking at a summer 2020 timeframe and need to get the ball rolling. Anything helps!

Thank you,
-Chris & Lexi-

I actually wanted to do this in Paris but decided not to because everything was so expensive!!! And most importantly it would have put our parents in a bad position financially to attend... have you narrowed it down to location??

We’ve looked around France in the Provence region but it really is looking too expensive. So, our thoughts shifted to Italy (we got engaged in Rome this past March). And as far as where at in Italy, not sure on that either. Maybe Amalfi coast or Tuscany with flowers/overgrown decor etc.

Hey Chris! Congratulations on your engagement!! Where is Rome was your engagement? That sounds amazing!!

I love that you are thinking of getting married in Italy, it will make it such a special destination for you and your SO!

Airbnb sounds like a great idea if you want all of your guests to stay together at one location. There are plenty of villas to rent so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find something absolutely beautiful!!

Personally, would you prefer to lock down an area to get married first, or would you prefer to find your dream villa no matter where it is? I would suggest trying to find somewhere no more than an hour from the airport that you and your guests will be flying into, the last thing you want to do after a long flight is to sit in a bus or taxi for another few hours!!

Thank you for the reply and we got engaged at the Trevi fountain and I think we’re pretty open to any area other than just locking down an Airbnb. If there’s a pretty venue with proper accommodations that doesn’t break the bank, we’d also be down.

    Hi Chris,

I live and work in Northern Italy and there are many places in this area that could be suitable for the kind of wedding you are looking for.

It obviously depends on your budget, Lake Como is quite expensive, while countryside areas or other less famous lakes offer cheaper options.

Have a look at Lombardy region or send me a private message if you want Smiley smile
