Destination Halloween Wedding

Laura Jean , on May 22, 2018 at 4:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 24

I'm going thru so many boards to find this answer, and I just can't seem to find it!

I am getting married on Halloween, which falls on a Wednesday this year. It is a destination wedding, most will be flying from within the US but a lot from out of the country. I also forgot to mention this is in New Orleans - so VERY destination and very popular time in town. Is June too early to send out our invitations? Everyone is asking questions and looking to book their flights and hotels before prices become outrageous. People want more info and to feel secure. Also, people need to save money for the trip. Thoughts?

Four months before a destination wedding? Your guests should already have all of this info. They should have gotten save the dates and have access to a wedding website or somewhere else to find out all of these details, there shouldn't be any information to ask for.

You are kind of late to be sending out STD for a destination + weekday + holiday wedding. Do people have and idea ( like word of mouth) that you have planned for this time?

    Send ASAP

Yikes! As pp said, it’s pretty short notice for a weekday destination wedding. I love the idea of a Halloween wedding, but definitely get on the ball with a wedding website with all the info and send invites ASAP.

I'd send the invites ASAP. New Orleans on Halloween can be very busy and hotels will sell out and be pricy for that day. Your wedding sounds like it will be great though, New Orleans and Halloween are two of my favorite things.

Its definitely not too early to send the invites because people need to save up and it will be very busy that time of year. The sooner they know the better count you'll get.

Also I would check into lodging down there and see if they might do multiroom discount if you have enough people coming.

I agree with PP you need to get the info out ASAP.
Halloween in NOLA is going to be fantastic! I'm so jealous I didn't think of doing this. My FH would have shot it down fast anyways he is not a big fan of Halloween (gasp).

I wouldn't be able to make it on such short notice and I'd be pretty sad because I absolutely love NOLA and I definitely love it during Halloween. Most places have a 100 guest minimum. You may need to investigate this more and send out invitations ASAP! Do as much leg work as you can for your guests because of the late notice and good luck. That's a hot time of year for NOLA tourism. Hotels can book pretty far in advance.

If save the dates went out you should be fine. I sent out my invites 10 weeks before my DW.

Haha! Well we got engaged in January, and both trace most of the year for living for work so in Marh we figured out we’ll both be home at the same time during Halloween. I love Halloween, and HES the one who suggested it. I have most all of the vendors booked, and save the dates went out about 6 weeks ago. Website is fully made and done.

I have my invitations made, so when I get home from this work trip in 2 weeks I will def send out. Thank you all so much for your input. Sorry, I’m not what you call a traditional bride, and none of our friends are very traditional either! Everyone knows about the wedding, but I was just not sure about the official invitation. Again, thank you all so much.

We sent them out about 6 weeks ago. Didn’t have a website made at that point but just wanted to get them out.

Awesome! I’m so excited so I think I’m gonna send them out in 2 weeks when I’m home next. Glad to hear yours worked out fine.

If you just sent out STDs you definitely don;t need to send out your invites two weeks from now. My wedding is labor day and I'm not even sending out invites until June 15th. People have the information they need from the save the dates. If your wedding truly is on halloween I would just hold off until early September to mail them.

Why are people asking questions if you've already sent out Save the Dates with all of that information?

Time of event, any other plans, when to fly in / out. It’s on my website but you know how some people are! It’s a 10am wedding too, so a few people have booked flights out at night time on Halloween.

I would just field those questions as they come but don't send invites until it's closer.
