December 19th Wedding - Do we postpone Again?

Lana, on August 12, 2020 at 7:21 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

The original wedding date was May 16th (We did a minimony and got married on that date). We postponed to December 19th, thinking that by December, things would be better. Its now August and I am so scared that we are going to have to postpone again.

I live in Georgia and the cases just keep increasing. I'm worried even if we do a wedding in December, no one will come and it'll be a waste of money. I want to sob at the thought of postponing our dream wedding AGAIN though.

Any thoughts? Is anyone else in the situation of a December wedding? Or having to postpone for a second time?

My date is December. We are hoping for the best, but if things don’t look better in October we will postpone. We are south Florida dealing with high numbers.

My heart goes out to you Lana. This is all so tough and it feels like it will be so long before things are normal again! Smiley heart

A lot will depend on the health situation in your local area, and the size of your celebration! If you're on board with a smaller reception (and your local restrictions allow) I'd try to go ahead with your December plans, but it's up to you!

Here are a few discussions where you can connect with other December brides about their current plans and concerns: To surrender to Covid or hold on....?, Covid worries from a nurse getting married, and How is everyone dealing with Covid-19 & their wedding plans?

Our original date is January 2nd, 2021 in North Alabama, so pretty much in the same boat! We decided to just have a minimony that day and wait it out before picking a date for our bigger wedding celebration/reception. We ultimately decided that it was too much stress to wait any longer to make a decision, even if we might seem a little overly cautious postponing so far in advance. This way we could get some deposits back, avoid endangering our families and friends, and relieve some of the stress. Now I can focus on planning the minimony and making it feel special.
