How is everyone dealing with Covid-19 & their wedding plans?

vanessa, on July 31, 2020 at 4:49 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22

So me & my fiance live in Florida and had planned to have a beach wedding and a reception to follow with about 100 guests at a hotel on the beach........then Covid-19 hit Smiley ups

Luckily, we were able to make other arrangements and are now having 3 separate celebrations so our family and friends out of state don't have to travel and risk their health.

How are y'all dealing with all of this Covid-19 craziness?

We canceled our April Big Island trip, postponed our July beach vow renewal in Oahu to August, then postponed again to the unknown. We have no new date. I just don’t want to be sad for the 3rd time. Maybe 2021? Maybe 2022? It will be our 25th anniversary on 2022.

We postponed our July 31, 2020 wedding to July 2022. We're bummed, but we are doing OK. We think it was for the best option for us.

My Fiancé and I was supposed to be getting married on October 11th 2020. With the stress of COVID and not knowing what will be in October we decided we didn’t want love to wait. We opted to get married at court but changed our minds. We hired an amazing wedding planner a couple weeks ago to elope and and help us speed things up with a small reception
In an organized stress free way. Now we’re getting married in August! 3 More Weeks to go!!!!!

We're in SoCal and it has been one hell of a rollercoaster! To keep the story short - we went from postponing to just cancelling the entire thing, because I have little faith for a "normal" wedding next year. We're going to "elope" on our original date, and plan a smaller ceremony/reception once it's safe to do so. Glad to hear your making arrangements to not put anyone at risk!

We postponed our October 10, 2020 wedding to October 7, 2021. This was the best decision for us.

We postponed our wedding on 10/30/2020 to 10/30/2021 because we're in California and things are not that great here. We don't want to risk it. The plan now is to get legally married by the county on our original date and have the big celebration with a vows renewal ceremony on our first anniversary. Crossing my fingers and toes that it will go as planned and things get better next year.

I’m in Florida, too! We are keeping our date of October 18th, but are cutting our guest list from 130 to 50. It was a tough decision to make but we don’t want to wait any longer.

Trying to plan a destination wedding in Florida. Frustrated that we had to pick a venue sight unseen. I had plans to go pick the venue back in April..

We’re having a destination wedding weekend in Las Vegas. However we postponed from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21. I feel relief, I love our new date and I’m simply hoping for the best next year. I didn’t like the idea of having 2 separate events, with a reception happening months after already bring married. So we’re having both the ceremony and reception celebrations all on the same day. Thankfully everything is already booked and planned. But, given the new date, I’m adding in a few small details. Looking forward to it!!!!

That’s wonderful you’re doing 3 events to make it happen! Sadly, this pandemic is not going away soon. We postponed our May wedding to September and pretty hopeful things can go through! I cannot imagine postponing until next year and month after month having such uncertainty while planning! It is craziness... good luck Smiley smile

We have postponed our large December wedding for next December in the hopes that COVID is under control by then. We are having a small ceremony this year at an Airbnb anyway in December where I intend to wear my dress and the whole shebang because my dad has cancer and I fear he may not make it to next years wedding. So now I get to have two weddings!

I’m in Tampa! I got engaged March 2019 so I’ve had everything planned for the last year. Luckily the only thing I’ve had to change is the amount of guests. This is a really stressful time to try to plan when guidelines change daily, but stay positive and know that you are not alone in this. Weddings will most likely be smaller and more intimate moving forward.

I’m in St. Pete! Because of everything going on and now having a significantly smaller wedding, we have hired Gulf Beach Weddings so we can still have our beach wedding as planned.

Changed our local wedding ceremony & reception plans because we are unable to reserve our spot and may not be able to until after the first of the year at this point. We had already booked our honeymoon and the resort offers free weddings with the amount of nights we had reserved. So, we decided to elope and have a weddingmoon. Just the FH and myself. We will come home and do a reception 2 weeks after our return. Just praying that things get better by June 2021 and we are able to carry out our plans.

We're in the Seattle area and postponed from June 27 to September 26, and have now pivoted from a 130-person event to a small family ceremony of 15. We were able to either get refunds or credits for the bulk of our deposits, so we outright cancelled our venue plans, with the hope of rescheduling our "big" wedding once the public health situation stabilizes. (We don't expect that rescheduled celebration to happen before 2022 at the earliest.) If we hadn't been able to work it out financially, we would have postponed to preferably summer 2022 or, if necessary, to summer/fall 2021. I'm getting to be a pro at re-writing day-of timelines! Smiley xd

I’m supposed to be getting married on the 22nd (we still will be) we planned to have a small intimate ceremony at a resort on the beach and follow with a reception right after with our 25 guests. I live in the VI and the COVID cases are rising here so the government put in a stay at home order starting on Monday at 6am. So all non essential businesses are closed and all hotels cannot take anymore reservations. We still want to get married this year we don’t want to wait another year so we agreed to elope. Just is too. It’s really frustrating to se egg at everything was already paid and set now I feel like I’m settling for less. My wedding planner is awesome so I think all will go well.
