David's Bridal.. yes or no for gown?

So I've always heard people talk down about David's Bridal and say their stuff is cheap. I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need...

I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need alterations as I'm busty and nothing ever fits. I'm trying not to spend a fortune on a dress, ugh. I made an appointment at a bridal store and David's Bridal but innit sure if it's worth it. Thoughts?

Just go! I wouldn't suggest buying a dress from China as a PP suggested. Most ladies on here have had terrible experiences with that.

I got my gown from there and I had a GREAT experience. Wonderful service. No alterations yet but my quote was very reasonable, $150.

I found my dress at David's Bridal too. I haven't ordered it but from what I hear alterations can be pricey but I think that's the case no matter where you go.

I love my dress from David's, however the alterations were outrageously expensive!

My friend's dress budget was $400 so we went to DB, she found a dress she loved and it looked beautiful on her. However, some things on wedding dresses you can tell when it is "cheaper" - the crystals, the beading, the material. My dress budget was $2,000 so I wasn't even considering David's Bridal.

I personally didn't like the selection at David's but I didn't feel as if there selection looked cheap! Imo Alfred Angelo is a way better way to go!

I have had the absolute WORST experienceS at David's Bridal. From in-store shopping for a wedding gown, to in-store shopping and ordering for a bridesmaid dress, to the app, to customer service on the phone - ALL HORRIBLE. I was forced to buy from there because my friend wanted a national store for her BMs in various locations but I suggest that you check to see if there is an Alfred Angelo store near you. They are also national AND they have beautiful styles and colors AND are very reasonably priced (my dress was $850). I am also busty and they have larger options to fit the girls too. Smiley smile If you are not the perfect size and want some advice on styles that look good on different body types, you don't find any support at David's Bridal. They don't care whatsoever about customer service, and they won't offer suggestions, just bring you what you request. This is all my personal experiences at the store in San Diego, of course, so maybe it's different in other places but I've not heard good things about David's from other friends across the country also.

Good luck finding a dress wherever you go!!

I've never heard of Alfred Angelo but I'm going to google it. So a lot if people say the alterations are expensive.. if I buy there where would I go to get alterations done? I've never had to do alterations before so I'm not sure what to expect in that arena either. My budget is $2000 for the dress and alterations. I can go as high as $2500 if necessary but I'd prefer to keep it under $2K, so o figured DB was a good way to guarantee that..but I'm kind of in love with Maggie Sottero dresses.

I'm in love with my dress from davids, but I also went way over budget. I think it's one of those things where you just have to find what feels good for you. If you go and look and you aren't a fan, then you at least you tried. I agree with Amber, don't let anyone pressure you. The dress will still be there if you leave and then come back to it.

I got mine there. Horrible experience all around. Especially alterations. The alterations cost me almost as much as my dress. My bridal party got dresses there too. They all had bad experiences.

Take it from me please!!!! I worked there!! You pay way more than what the dress is actually worth! They tell you you HAVE to have all these under garments and the alterations are more than they should be! I would avoid! Also if you get a dress from there it's gonna be one that you will probably see a million more times!

I got my dress and all the bridesmaids dresses from there. The alterations was pretty expensive in my opinion but it could be because I've never had to get anything altered so 250 seemed like a lot to me. I think you have to pick what's best for you and not worry about what other brides will think about your decision to go with one dress shop over the other.

My bridesmaids got their dresses from there and they all look amazing! Only about 140 bucks. I just went to go get fitted for a bill levkof bridesmaids gown and it honestly was no nicer than the one I picked out from David's. That one cost over 200!!! I think you should be fine at David's bridal Smiley smile
