David's Bridal.. yes or no for gown?

So I've always heard people talk down about David's Bridal and say their stuff is cheap. I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need...

I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need alterations as I'm busty and nothing ever fits. I'm trying not to spend a fortune on a dress, ugh. I made an appointment at a bridal store and David's Bridal but innit sure if it's worth it. Thoughts?

I got mine from there and loved it. I haven't had alterations yet though. I wasn't about to spend several thousand dollars for something I'd only wear once, so I thought dB was the way to go.

Got my dress from there... It stayed strong being in a pool, out in the middle of no where for a second trash the dress shoot, washed it in the washing machine AND hung in my closet! It was definitely a trooper!!!! And it was only like $500.

Not a fan, but I think some locations are better than others. Some of them have some pretty beaten up looking samples. A friend recently went and the sample dresses were falling apart. I would still try a location near you, though. Many brides have had good luck there.

I was really surprised by the poor quality for some of their price points. Some of their nicer gowns (1K+) were unlined, poorly supported, etc. There are few other options if you are looking for a $500 bridal gown, but if you are going to spend more, I don't think you get your moneys worth.

I think it really depends on what you expect and on the experience you have. I had the moment in a Maggie Sottero at another store. I was absolutely in love. I went to DB because I already had the appointment set and because mom said so. The lace on the dresses felt cheap, the dresses seamed unfinished, the service was terrible and it just didn't compare. The associate helping me did not listen to me at all and continually rolled her eyes at me. I did not get my dress there. But on the flip side, my sister had an amazing experience there and no one believed her that her dress was DB. It really depends on you and your preferences, plus the experience in store.

I had a pretty good experience and I love my Oleg Cassini from David's. Haven't gotten to the alteration stage yet though.

I've heard different stores really vary. Try out your local one to see.

The gowns there are nice it's the people there that suck. I had an appointment to go there and two days before my appointment I was across the street so I decided to go over there and ask if they had the style of the dress I wanted.... because if they didn't have the style or at least something similar there was no sense in keeping the appointment. They were so rude when I walked in it was unbelievable. So even if they did have the style I was looking for I canceled my appointment anyway... I'm not going to be treated badly in a place the I was intending on spending a lot of money in

A friend of mine went to DB just to get a feel for a "bad" dress shop. We had an appointment later that day at a much nicer bridal shop. Needless to say, we never made it to the appointment because she said yes to the dress at DB

I got mines from DB and had to order a size up because I fell in love with my dress. They didn't have my size when I went to order it. Which means I had to pay more for the dress. I did my alterations last weekend to get both sides taken in & steamed. It costed me $85. I did feel some type of way they didn't give me the price of my dress in my size since it wasn't available knowing I was going to need alterations.

It really all depends on the time you want to put into it. If you find a style that works well for you at the appointment then you can compare with other stores, sales, etc and try to find a less expensive option, that you may even like more. I would suggest going in with an open mind and choose some of your favorites from Davids. If you find the perfect one, fantastic! but you don't have to make a final decision immediately and DO NOT let the sales team or friends and family pressure you into a decision. Mine tried and I almost made a huge mistake.

I didn't want to spend a small fortune on dress, alterations, etc so I went to the appointment to find a style that suited me well (try corset back to accommodate the larger bust) and I was actually able to find the exact same dress from the wholesaler in China (same picture, measurements, everything) online and sent in my measurements to them and the custom made the dress to my size for no added costs, AND it was going to be here much sooner than ordering from Davids. Davids was over $1000 and DHGate.com was under $200. Different wholesalers make different items for the same stores so, unfortunately, this does take some time. It probably took me a week of dedicated searching before I accidentally found this site. After playing around on it I found the perfect dress for me and all the accessories for under $200. six weeks later, I have the perfect dress, custom made and have zero regrets about spending the extra time searching.

I personally am not a fan of David's as I have had two poor experiences there with other friends when I was a BM/MOH going with them. Also, I knew that the designers I wanted to try weren't available there. That being said, I have seen plenty of brides that have had great successes there. I think it all depends on the store, the associate, and the style of dress you prefer

It all depends on the store and when you go. I went on a weekend and I found my dress but the customer service wasn't great since they were so busy. I didn't order it that day. Went back again on a Wed in the afternoon cuz I bought my veil at a different store and wanted to see it all together. Customer service was so much better. They recommend stuff that the first appointment didn't and I fell in love with my dress even more.

I jus picked up my dress Saturday and got a quote for alterations and it was about $300. 120 for hem, 90 to take in at the bust and waist about an inch each side, 50 for bustle for first 3 points, 7 for each additional point, and 30 to sew on the sash.

I got my dress there and love it, and compared to the one boutique I went to, I actually liked David's more. Maybe I have cheap taste. LOL as far as alterations I haven't had mine done yet but they had me try it on for the seamstress and she gave me a quote of about $200-250. The boutique said they averaged $400-600, so I'd call that pretty good.

My BM's tried on their dresses there, then all ordered online and will have a seamstress they all have used for their weddings/other BM gowns do the alterations. Ordering online had a quicker ship date and I found an online coupon to save $30 Smiley smile

I recently went there for my first wedding dress fitting, it was very underwhelming to say the least, for me. Their bridesmaid and prom dresses are nice though

I had my bridesmaids order from David's bridal and they looks amazing ! They haven't been altered yet but I gave my girls the option of going somewhere else. Not only did the dresses look great on everyone, but they were more affordable and just stunning! I've also seen some lovely bridal gowns there as well. I don't think they are cheap at all!

I got my dress and my bridesmaids dresses from DB and love them. What I hated about DB was their customer service. They told me it would take 6 weeks for my dress to come in, and they suggested I schedule an appointment with my BMS do they could try on dresses with mine to see how they looked together. So we did that, but the dress came in 3 weeks. I called back and asked if they could hold it until my originally scheduled appointment since everyone had busy schedules and we all live far away from the store. They said it was fine. But a week later they called back and said I had to pick it up by the end of the week I can't get it. So I had to drag everyone out of their schedules to cart up there that week.
