David's Bridal.. yes or no for gown?

So I've always heard people talk down about David's Bridal and say their stuff is cheap. I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need...

I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need alterations as I'm busty and nothing ever fits. I'm trying not to spend a fortune on a dress, ugh. I made an appointment at a bridal store and David's Bridal but innit sure if it's worth it. Thoughts?

I didn't go there. Simply because I wanted/needed a dress with sleeves and their options are slim to nothing.

But, I think it's worth the look. They are generally well priced and have some real gems. Sometimes, the associates are bums though, but that's kind of just what happens in retail. Sad, but true.

I'm not a David's bridal fan, and you can get a waaay higher quality dress from some of your local boutiques for not much more. I strongly suggest checking out some boutique bridal stores in your area before heading to Davids.

Loved my dress from David's and felt like the quality was good. However, do not go there for alterations as they will price gouge you.

I bought my dress at David's Bridal and I love my dress, but I went into it knowing that I was getting an inexpensive dress. I liked that I could look at the dresses online, and since I am over 6 feet tall I liked that they have a whole "Extra length" section. That being said, I agree with everyone who says that customer service can be an issue and that it varies from store to store. I went to two stores, and at the first one I had a pretty blah experience, which I thought was just par for the course. The second one I went to with my parents, so that they could see the dress and take part in the experience, was a delight. They were very attentive, helpful, and made it a very nice moment.

I feel like I was kind of hustled into getting my dress from the first place, and I wish I could have purchased my dress from the second location. The timeline was going to be tight as I went in April for my September wedding. It was supposed to come in August, but I picked it up last week. I am going to start the alterations process, so hopefully that won't be an issue.

I got my dress at Davids, it's part of their Vera Wang line. I would recommend going during the week when it's not super busy and you will get better customer service. They can be pretty pushy when trying to get you to buy something.

I was pleasantly surprised that I found my dress at David's. I was planning to start with them and them work my way up to more expensive lines (why start with the expensive ones if you can fall in love with a cheap one first, right? :p ), but I actually found my dress there pretty quickly. The alterations CAN be rather pricey, depending on what you need done. Mine needed a serious bustle which adds up fast because (at least at my store) each button/loop after the first three are $7 a piece. If I hadn't needed so much bustling the alterations cost would have been much more reasonable, so it really just depends on what you'll need done.

My recommendation is always to start at the 'cheaper' store and work up. Even if you're not expecting to find something there, it can't hurt to look. And, you might be pleasantly surprised.

My sister got a her wedding dress and a bridesmaids dress for another wedding their, both looked gorgeous. Most of their dresses are less than$1000 and lot of other bridal shops are much much more expensive then that so naturally stuff from David's bridal is not going to be as grand as other places. But frankly people look beautiful in db dresses. It just comes down to how much your willing to spend

I'd say it's worth a look! I got my bm dresses from there - I have heard their alterations are expensive though but you'd have time to shop around those prices.

It can be hit or miss. I attended two dress shopping experiences there for my friends and it was PACKED! Your consultant is definitely more attentive if you are shopping for a bridal gown vs. BM dresses. I went to DB to get BM dresses and it wasn't great. A tip - have them check if they can get your size in a gown before you get to the register. And if the store can't get your size, check online!

I went to 2 different DBs on 4 different occasions. Your experience will depend on the store, the consultant and how busy they are. But 3 of the 4 times it was great. The other time I had an older woman for my consultant and she just did not seem to care. The others were so sweet and helpful. At the boutique I went to I just didn't like most of the dress, and the woman didn't try to make me look nice at all, other than slapping a veil on my head every 2 seconds. And this was a place that has a five star rating from WW! Wasn't impressed. I got my dress from DB (oh and it does have sleeves, while absolutely zero in the boutique I went to had sleeves) and I love it. Had my bridal moment and everything. Is it as high quality as the Maggie Sottero I tried on? Eh maybe not. But I'm only wearing it for a few hours, not years. And it was way cheaper. And it's so me, and fits like a glove. I say give it a try. It can't hurt.

My dress is gorgeous. It was a good price. I didn't do alterations through them though. I'd give them a try and if you don't like the gowns then don't get one. There is no harm in trying it out.

I got my gown from there... I love it but I refused to take the showroom gown I tried on. I made them order a new gown, and it's the same price as the gown on the floor.

I bought offline from them! I've heard so many horror stories about them too so I avoided going into the physical store but I couldn't resist their sale prices! My gown looks so much more expensive than it was. I will be getting alterations elsewhere

I got my dress and all my BM dresses there as well. I have had wonderful service. I am also having my alterations done there, I was surprised at how reasonable the cost was.

The way I look at it, you get what you pay for. I ended up going with alfreds for my girls because the material and everything was just better quality. My dress is a Maggie from a local boutique which ended up being super reasonable and the staff was phenomenal.

What I've dealt with at David's: consultants who act like tacky saleswonen and treat you as a number, and not the highest quality dresses... i tried 1 dress on there and the girl just left me in my dressing room to fend for myself.
