David's Bridal.. yes or no for gown?

So I've always heard people talk down about David's Bridal and say their stuff is cheap. I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need alterations as I'm busty and nothing ever fits. I'm trying not to spend a fortune on a dress, ugh. I made an appointment at a bridal store and David's Bridal but innit sure if it's worth it. Thoughts?

I had an awesome experience at the one in Fort Collins. Depends where you I'm sure, but now I have a dress that makes me feel confident and beautiful and very much like a bride! Smiley smile

I didn't plan to get my dress there but I did! And I love it. I have heard similar things about their alterations though, so I'm taking my dress to a seamstress who specializes in wedding gowns instead.

I absolutely hate David's Bridal, I have had issues with them in the past where they were more interested in assisting Prom girls then the group of Bridesmaids I was with. They also sell your information when they say they don't. I'm lucky to live in the Cincinnati and close to Reading, Ohio, which is known to be the Bridal District. (Tons of shops with amazing selections and caring staffs)

I've always hated David's Bridal (and I still do) but I got my gown and my bridesmaids dresses from there. My dress was $500 and alterations were about $250. It's all a joke. This was also the cheapest place I could find. I went to a few other salons and dresses started at $950 not including alterations. I'm not spending that much..

As a bride who found her dress there and had such a good time that I applied for a part time stylist position (I went over my dress budget) I can say it really is a great place to look. The variety of styles is great and we don't have a dress in the store over $1850. My dress is an all-over pearl beaded sheath that I was able to purchase on clearance for $1200. The company is an off the rack store so you're not going to have an experience like you would at Kleinfeld's in New York but almost everyone I work with was aDavid's Bridal bride or, like me, is getting married this year. Our alterations team is awesome. I lost basically two sizes and because my dress is a clearance dress, I couldn't exchange for a smaller size (there just weren't any of the style available). Our alterations manager was able to cut the dress down, hem and bustle the dress for $375. There is no discount on alterations services for employees (you're payong for the time and difficulty of the work the seamstresses have to do) so that is what any other customer would have paid for the same services. I ended up getting my daughter's flower girl dress, my MIL's dress, a rehearsal dinner dress and my reception dress from David's as well. Give them a try and if you're not having a good experience, let the floor manager know so they have an opportunity to make your experience a positive one.

I didn't have a good experience at the multiple David's I tried so we went elsewhere. We got better prices and service at a boutique shop.

The experience depends on the consultant. Some gowns are gorgeous, others feel cheaply made to me. If you want to give it a shot and are in southern MD (long shot but I thought I'd ask) I'd be happy to help you sometime. You could book an appointment with me or just pop in. No preference.

Some people are very happy with DB. I went the first time to try on dresses, felt I was a burden to the consultant who did not put on one thing I liked. Materials were cheap and itchy. I moved on to a small local bridal salon and after the first dress went "HOLY SHIT THE DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY". I tried on 6 dresses there, and 4 or 5 I think we're Maggie Soterro. I still paid less than 1000 for my dress and I have heard DB alterations are insane. I would stay away

ETA I just read some comments and saw you have a **** budget. You can definitely get a Maggie in that price range. They are usually around the 1500 range plus alterations. Mine was only 980. You will see the difference in quality for sure, and Maggie's gowns are beautiful

I looooove my dress from David's. However, the alterations cost me nearly as much as the dress did.

They're cheaply made. For one day it's great if that's what's in your budget, but if you can go outside of that, do it.

My tailor was so happy to see my dress and she said she was sick of working on cheap DB dresses. The material, the way it's cut, the quality of the workmanship... it's noticeably different.

With your budget, get something of quality.

I am ordering my dress from there. I've already tried it on once and loved it and it was only $499 but wanted to have all the right people with me when I said yes to the dress. So I'm going back July 16th when everyone is available. As far as alterations go, I am going to get an estimate from them but if they are to expensive then I will look somewhere closer to home since David's is about an hour away.

I love my gown from there. Alterations were only $60. No harm in going and trying a few on.

I'm getting mines from David's bridal. And like you I'm apart of the huge boobs committee lol. I'm a 42H and I know one thing is I do want my girls to look nice and not all to huge. The dress I'm getting actually makes them look a little smaller. The material seems to be lovely. But it also depends on your budget
