David's Bridal.. yes or no for gown?

So I've always heard people talk down about David's Bridal and say their stuff is cheap. I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need...

I've been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings within the last 2 years and they all avoided Davids; even for the bridal party. Has anyone gotten a gown from there?.. are their alterations decent? I know I'm going to need alterations as I'm busty and nothing ever fits. I'm trying not to spend a fortune on a dress, ugh. I made an appointment at a bridal store and David's Bridal but innit sure if it's worth it. Thoughts?

I wasn't impressed by any of the wedding gowns but we did order the dresses for our bridemaids there. The wedding dresses all sort of felt the same to me and I wasn't impressed by the quality.

I went there for a bridesmaid appointment and had the worst service and every dress I saw was terribly made. Our associate I think said 2 sentences to us, didn't show us around, didn't do anything. We basically made an appointment to shop on our own, help ourselves in the dressing room and decide not to pay those prices for a gown that wouldn't make it through the day. I would steer clear of them.

My mom also ordered her dress from there when she married my step dad. She ordered all of the dresses, hers, flower girls, bm, everyone. When she went in for her LAST alterations appt. she found out that they just didn't order the flowergirl dress. They just forgot, or lost the order or something. She complained and freaked out and they comped only HALF of her alterations and rush ordered the flowergirl dress. I don't know... I'd avoid them at all cost.

I got my wedding dress from there and I really love it there. The alterations are expensive (I had mine taken in, hemmed a lot, and added bustles), but I think their service is great and really friendly. I also got my BM dresses from there and I have always had a positive experience there. I think it depends on the actual store because I have heard of people having bad experiences there while others have positive experiences.

I got my dress from David's and I LOVE it. Never thought I'd be the girl to have that "bridal moment", but I totally did. I've heard alterations can get super expensive, and my dress isn't going to need much, so I'm taking it to the seamstress we used for all my prom dresses- I know she does good work and we know about what she'll charge for simple alterations.

My first dress appointment was at David's and then I went to Alfred Angelo's immediately after. For $100- $150 more , I found a dress that was perfect. Comparing it to David's, David's was cheap look and the material was cheap. I like David's for BM dresses but that's it. I would recommend making an appointment there and then go to a 2nd place and make your decision.

Personally, I'm not a fan of David's wedding dresses (no offense at all to anyone who bought theirs there!) Just not my taste. BUT my bridesmaid dresses are from there, and it's been great! No issues at all!

I don't necessarily think the quality of their gowns is cheap. I think the issue is more with the customer service aspect of things. I have heard nightmare stories about alterations not being done the NIGHT before the wedding. Or issues with ordering dresses. And just overall rudeness from sales reps. It's enough to make me stay FAR away. I know they do have great sales all the time though. I would suggest buying the gown from DB and having alterations done elsewhere. If that's really where you want to go.

It depends on which one you go to. The local one for me wasn't that great. Lady complained because I didnt want ball gown types which "severely limited my choices". I chose a sheath style for under $200, but the alterations were going to cost me another $150. Not really an acceptable % of the dress price, especially when the only alteration was hem 4 inches, 2 layers.

I had the worst experience at Davids Bridal. Felt like all the brides were being treated like herd of cattle. I was put in the fitting room right by the bathroom people were constantly walking around me to get to the bathroom. It would be different if there was enough space, but I kept having to move out of the way or they were stepping on the dresses I was trying on. We also had made at appointment at 2 but they didnt help us until after 3. I was upset about that from the get go, why make an appointment if you can't even make it happen close to that time. From my personal experience, not but every has a different experience there.

I've made an appointment there and another place so I'll see how it goes. I'm gonna keep both. I took some advice from here tho and switched my DB appointment to a weekday instead. I'm going to the more upscale place first then David's Bridal to see how they compare. My wedding isn't until next year so I have time to decide still.

My BMs are getting their dresses at DB. They are good quality, and a good cost. I am not sure about alterations as the girls are bringing their dresses to their own alterations people, but I have heard that they are good with alterations.

I did not get my dress there. I went to a little place in my local main street town. It was much more personal and the selection was much better. My experience and Davids was not pleasant. It was a way for me to start seeing what I did and didn't like though.

I don't think its horrible to go there. They are definitely a 'chain' and you will not get the same experience as if you went to a boutique. David's has some more affordable options (under $750.00) but if you hit up a boutique during a sale or trunk show, you can find an amazing designer dress for a sale price.

I loved my dress from David's! I needed alterations to make the illusion neckline lay flat. I took it to a local seamstress lots of other people recommended and she did a terrible job - didn't charge me much, but she said that was the only way to fix the neckline (she put elastic in it). Went to David's, and 10 seconds in had my bust pinned and while it was a more costly alteration, they completed it in two weeks. I spent like $185 for the shoulders and bust to be altered and the resulting neckline looked so much better. My dress was tea length - they didn't have a lot of options in that style but I'm so happy with the dress I got.

I love my gown I got from Davids. ! Well under budget and I absolutely love it. It is a dress I will wear for one day. To me, spending 600$ was much more reasonable than 2000$+... The woman who helped me, was so helpful. She had me look around and pick three dresses I liked. While trying them on, based on my preferences she brought more options. Never was rushed. Pushed. Or anything. Overall had a great experience! And no I have money left over in my budget for other splurges -)

The first time I went dress shopping I went there. They were really nice and it was a fun experience. I did not get my dress from them but I was able to narrow down what style I liked.

    32H!? I wouldn't go strapless. And I'm "only" a DD lol.

The last thing I want on this super cool special day is to feel uncomfortable or worried about something embarrassing happening.

If you are looking for cheap DB might be your be bet. I feel like DB is a hit or miss store as far as the wedding dresses. I walked around in there recently and didn't see much that I liked but I have seen very pretty dresses come from there! Bridesmaid dresses from there are good, I have had several and never a problem with them. I would keep your appointment just to explore your options! Never too many options, good luck!

I got my dress from there! But it doesn't look like a lot of the David's bridal dresses lol. I didn't do alterations there though and I didn't do bridesmaid dresses there
