David's Bridal Rant

FMR2018, on April 12, 2017 at 1:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 64

Super agitated with our local David's Bridal. I went in January to get an idea of BM dresses and tried on 2 wedding dresses that I ended up hating. I left with a sour taste in my mouth when the consultant kept pressuring me to order my dress and BM dresses that day for my October 2018 wedding. Now I know that bridal gowns run small, but it was ridiculous that I am a 2/4 street size and she kept saying well you're a 16/18 here. I left feeling like a blimp when nothing fit and she didn't even put effort into pulling anything...or we just don't carry a sample that will fit you. I had 0 intentions of going back for my gown. Today I got a phone call to confirm a bridal appointment I didn't make. I was at work so I didn't answer or have time to return their call. Has anyone else run into a rogue consultant from DB making appointments without asking? Am I just crazy for being irritated by this? I feel like it's such a crap business move.

People do complain about DB but I had an amazing experience there, got my dress my consultant was very nice, not pushy at all. That's hard to believe you're a 2/4 street size and they didn't have anything that fit you? Wedding gowns are not that much bigger I'm a dress size 4 bridal size 8

They took you from a street size 2/4 and said you're a 16/18? Sounds very strange..I'm a size 2/4 street size and literally every single gown I tried on was falling off me. Hope you have a better experience at a different store.

I hated David's bridal when I went in person as well but bought my dress online from them. The sizing is not that far off though. I bought one size larger than my normal size. I love my dress I just didn't love the experience in store. I was nervous to buy a dress online but they didn't have anything in store in a size I could try on for that dress.

You are a 2/4 and they had you in a 16/18?? That's crazy! I'm a 12/14 and my dress is a 18/20 I think it is. I also did not like my DB experience and went elsewhere.

I know how you feel. They can be so clueless. I didn't have a problem with a nonexistent appointment, but I purchased my dress there. It came in a week early, so My mom (who purchased it) picked it up, signed it out, and took it home. 2 weeks later, I started getting phone calls a lot from them leaving messages on my voicemail that my dress is in and I need to pick it up (I was at work every time they called). I called them and told them that I already had it, but they still kept calling. My mom finally went in to DB and had it out with them. It was so irritating.

My experience trying on and buying the dress was okay overall. I only tried on 3 before making a decision. But, my consultant was a bit weird. She was helping me into dresses, but every time she came back into the dressing room, she'd open the door wide while I was naked (my room was had a store wide view) and a couple times, she would walk off and leave it open wide. Other than that, it was alright and my dress is beautiful.

DB's Customer Service is really hit or miss. Overall, we had good service. I'd go back for dresses but I wouldn't buy their belt or veil (can buy online for a lot less). I'm also having an independent seamstress alter my dress.

As a bride you just have to be accepting that wedding dresses run small.

I've never been a single digit.

    I am a size 14-16. & my dress is an 18.

Gosh. If you think that a size 16 is blimp. I guess I'm huge.

I didn't go to Davids from the reviews.

You want a true bridal experience.

I went to a boutique and got exactly what I wanted. It's an experience I'll never forget. It was special. The store was just ours. On a Tuesday afternoon my mom. Myself & the owner.

My grandmother manages a David's Bridal here where I live. She don't play that. I wish you lived here, because she would take good care of you! I purchased my gown there with her help and all of my accessories, too. Also, they kept calling and leaving voicemails when my headpieces came in and telling me the timeframe I had to pick them up. My grandmother fixed that really quickly too by telling them that she is the boss and putting my orders in her trunk, lol.

That's really strange that you're a 2/4 and she said 16/18, I mean.. I'm a 12/14 and they were putting me in 14s and 16s. It seems that davids bridal have no consistent method of customer service, I had such an amazing time at mine, they made me feel like a queen. I'm sorry you didn't have the same experience.

That's crazy nothing fit. I'm street 2/4 and ended up with my dress 0/2. Of course my davids bridal appt was cool until she was expecting BM to buy the dresses right then.

I had a girl so awful and rude that I ordered my dress online from the DB website so she wouldn't get credit. Apparently whoever your very first appointment was with gets credit for anything you buy, no matter who is helping you.

I didn't like my davids bridal experience either. It wasn't some of the horror stories I've heard here but even if I had found my dress there to be honest I probably would have bought it online or found something similar elsewhere

I think she probably meant 6/8 not 16/18, as I'm. also a 2 street size and was trying on all 6/8s which fit me. However, I'd still recommend you go elsewhere or even try a different David's location, their service is really hit or miss.

I have had great experiences with DB. I got my dress there and the consultant was super helpful but not pushy. It seems like it's hit or miss with them, some people had good experiences and some people hated their experience.

My sister tried BM dresses there and they were all huge on her. While we were there I heard a consultant telling a bride to order a size down so it would be motivation to lose weight. Cringeworthy.

Weird. Davids Bridal dresses don't even run that far off from your normal size. At least that was the case for me. I wore a size 6 and only needed an 8 there. But that's besides the point. Her customer service sounds horrendous. And I would call to speak with management regarding the appointment that was set up without your knowledge and to complain about the service

I had the worst experience at DB as well!! They were overbooked so I had to wait 30 mins to see a consultant who said she was also working with another bride. I gave her my budget which was in the top tier of all their gowns and she took me straight to the clearance rack. She kept gushing over one of the dresses (which I hated). I had to tell her 3 times that I didn't want it and if she brought me one more accessory to add to it, I would cut it up and set it on fire! Lol

My DB experience was awful as well, OP. The highlight of my appointment was when the 'stylist' said I 'wasn't going to get everything I wanted' for my wedding day. My usually soft-spoken MOH snapped back that it was her job to try! I wasn't asking for anything ridiculous - just a flowy, simple, non-form-fitting gown (the opposite of what I was being shown)

Take your business elsewhere, OP! I ended up getting a dress I bought at a consignment shop and love it!

I would run so far away. I purchased my gown from a local bridal shop. I found they were more personal. And really cared about me as a client. I am not impressed with David's Bridal.
