David's Bridal gave out my contact info??

MissGrimm, on March 15, 2010 at 8:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

So I just got a call from some place saying I won a prize. I know I should have hung the phone up immediatly...but she knew all of my information! She knew my name and my Fh's name which I suppose if someone really wanted to know wouldn't be hard to find. But what really got me was that she knew the wedding date, number of bridesmaids, number of groomsmen, that we're having a ring bearer and not a flower girl and that I had an appointment at David's Bridal last Thursday!! The only people that knew that much were my famill and of course David's Bridal. Do they really give all your information out to spammers? And have any of you gotten this call before? This is the website for the people who called me saying I just needed to go to a demonstration at our local Marriott Hotel and at the end I would receive my prize... yea sure.

That's crazy, and I really liked my local David's Bridal too. Makes me not want to go back to them for my next appointment! Or I should go ripping through there like a real Bridezilla for doing that lol

I wonder if I would have any luck ordering a dress online? I was considering trying dresses on in stores and if I found one of the ones I tried on in a store on Ebay I would get it there for cheaper. Maybe i'll end up doing that now and telling them to shove it after I get the dress online.

Maybe it's just me BUT I got both my dresses, all of the BM and fg dresses, my accessories, and shoes there with no issues. Even with exchanges and walking in circles because I'm indecisive, still no issues. Btw, I'm working with DB stores in 5 different cities. Neither myself or my bridesmaids have had our information given out or any DB drama. Maybe I'm lucky but then again, some of the DB stores prob suck more than others.

I loved davids bridal when i went to get my dress! i am going thru them because my MOH ( my sister) and one of my bridesmaids live in 2 different states and it was easiest that way. but this happened to me and i wasnt sure if it was them because i attended a local bridal expo, but didnt give away colors, bridesmaids, flower girls , or groomsmen. so something clicked that it had to of been them.

Yes they sell your information. You have to explicitly tell them not to share your information. They're supposed to ask you but they normally don't. Learned that lesson the hard way a couple of years ago when I stopped in to look at a dress and let my friends talk me into trying it on. I got so many freakin calls it wasn't even a little bit funny.

So this time when we ordered the bridesmaids dresses, she asked me for my email addy and I told her no thanks I already get enough wedding related email and by the way, please don't give out my information please and thank you.

I never had a problem with Davids at all. I got my dress in October and have no phone calls or anything like that. Sucks that so many people have issues with them.

I just got the same call on Sunday! Supposedly I won a trip--I didn't answer, but they left a long VM.

One of my bridesmaids & I went to DB and I tried on dresses for the first time. From the beginning it was a real disaster. I waited for over 30 minutes before they even set me up in a room. (I had an appt) Then they let me try on 3 dresses and kept trying to pressure me to buy the first. She used sales tactics like "You don't know if it'll be here" and "I doubt it will be on sale next time." After 3 random dresses (without even looking at pictures I had with me) she sent us on our way and since then I've rcvd several calls and emails from all kinds of places.

That's the annoying part, I actually loved David's Bridal before I found out they gave away all my info. I am a very shy person to begin with and the lady that was helping me was very nice and made me feel alot better about trying on dresses (which I was dreading because I am not very happy with my weight lol) And she even took me to where the dresses were kept in the back and let me look through them to help her get a better understanding of what style I like. I have to go back regardless because I am going to be in my aunt's wedding a month before my own as one of her bridesmaids and she got her dress from there so that's where all the bridesmaids are getting their dresses.

They sold my info too. I kept getting calls from a photography company. I don't like DB either. I went in with my mother and we stood at the register for 10 whole minutes!!! No body was in front of us!! The sales associates just kept walking by us and didn't even say hello!!!! We had to go in the back to get someone! That was ridiculous!! Go to a small boutique if you can. I got my dress from a boutique and the experience was completely different!!!!

I had to use DB because my BMs are scattered all over the place and I wanted all of us wearing the same dress, but yeah, they're pretty much totally awful. First of all, they completely ignored me when I came in--it was pretty busy, but they were openly rude and obviously didn't think I was worth their time. Which was actually fine with me since I didn't want a "bridal gown," just a BM's dress, and I hate being bothered by salespeople. When the dress came in, they called me to tell me it was there, but when I got to the store it took them 15 minutes to find it because, it turned out, someone had reversed my first and last name in their computer system--I realize my first name is unusual, but my last name ends in "-man," which seems like an OBVIOUS surname... And they definitely gave my info to everyone in town, which is EXTRA annoying because it's a DW, so even if I wanted to find a vendor for something, all the ones calling me are in the wrong state!

Last year me and FH went to a bridal show and registered to win a honeymoon. Well, the next day we came home from having a nice dinner and I found out that my father was rushed to the hospital due to him hurting his cyatic nerve in his knee. Before we left for the hospital, I called her back and she told me all I had to do was go to a demonstration about some cookwear. Being the skeptical type, I googled the name of the company (Royal Presige) and found out it was a huge scam. I knew right then and there David's Bridal gave out my personal info. I never showed up to the presentation although I told the lady I would be there.

I haven't had any problem with them, but know people that have. I guess it depends on the store location.

I did receive a call from the store thanking me for coming in, but that was it.

I haven't had any problems with them. I went there about a month ago to try on dresses and have yet to receive any calls from anyone. I only received an email asking about my service while I was there. I had a fantastic visit and all the people were very helpful and nice. I also bought a bridesmaid dress from them years ago and never had any problems then either.
