David Tutera...... Cake topper?

I have been to many weddings. I have seen the initials, bride & groom and flowers. I prefer flowers.

I'll be using grapes that the baker designs.

When it comes to what is atop your cake, go with what suits you best. We were originally going to do flowers, but then I stumbled across something online and couldn't resist. It fit us, our theme, our venue and our day perfectly. I'm just sad you can't see the wings on the bride one here. Since my side were all wearing wings and I play a faerie at the ren faire where we got married, it was perfect. That, and the bride has kind of a smart-assed look on her face, which fits me and the groom has long hair like DH.

I'm not a huge flower fan in general, so we're definitely doing a cake topper- and it fits our theme!

Definitely flowers are WAY more elegant! Here is my inspiration cake, I plan on putting baby's breath on top.

Cake toppers (in my opinion), end up looking: a) creepy, b)theme-y or c) just totally out there weird...

We're going to be doing cake toppers (hopefully). But that is because we're going custom and doing a rock climbing bride and a belaying groom. We will actually have flowers with the cake too (in between tiers).

I think it's a matter of personal preference. I always really wanted a traditional bride and groom cake topper that I could keep as a memento/pass along as an heirloom. I had a hard time finding something that was quality though. I searched for months and a lot of the bride/groom cake toppers were plasticy/cheap looking or themey/cutesy (bride dragging groom/groom in sports uniform/etc). Eventually I found one I LOVED that was porcelain and that i would feel proud to pass on to future generations, had I not, we would have gone with flowers or fall leaves. I agree that it is a matter of preference though. See I don't like flowers that much either, just not a fan of them, doesn't matter what kind of flower either.

Some of us just really aren't that "girly" and I think that our personality should shine at our weddings...so here's my thought...you love flowers....then do flowers, you love tradtional....then go with the B&G (or B&B, G&G) standing sweetly side by side, you kind of funny......then go with a humorous B&G(B&B, G&G) you like redneck....a can of PBR should do the trick. LOL

I would love to see talking cake toppers....boy what fun that could be! I already have a couple of saying for one =)

I'm going with cake toppers because I love the idea of having Dungeons & Dragons miniatures made to look like us on top of the cake. Yes, my fiance and I are both huge nerds.

@Amy I read that post to DH and he squeed. He's been playing for 27 years (He's 32...it's a family thing) and probably would have done something like that if I hadn't found the ones I did. It's really nice to see another geek couple on here, and he's probably going to be reading your posts over my shoulder now, lol.
