I really need some honest replies here please. My daughter is getting married in December. Her father and I are divorced. I am her mother and must admit that I cheated on her father. I really need some honest replies here please. My daughter is getting married in December. Her father and I are divorced. I am her mother and must admit that I cheated on her father. I know this is never right and I am very sorry for putting her through that. Of course there were other problems but that is besides the point. I know what I did was wrong. I have been married to the person I cheated with for several years. She and her stepfather do not really have a relationship, despite her living with us. They just really don't talk.

She just told me that she does not want him to come to the wedding as it will be awkward for her. She also admitted that her father expressed that he doesn't want her stepfather to come. Her father and stepfather have not been to an event together yet, this would have been a first.

I do not in any way want to make my daughter feel awkward in any way. I also do not want to give my husband this news as I know his feelings will be hurt.

Please help

Both my husband and I come from split families, both his parents are remarried and my father has a girlfriend. That made for interesting table seating at our wedding!! At the end of the day I think your husband should be invited, he is your family too now! It is up to you, your husband, your ex husband and exinlaws if they are the type to get involved to make sure there is no "awkwardness" as the day is about your daughter. Perhaps talk to your daughter and assure her there will be no reason for her to be concerned.

My parents have been divorced for about 32 years. Dad has been remarried for 27. The thought of my mom and stepmom being in the same room gives me anxiety. Even thinking about my mom being in the same room as some of my dad's side of my family gives me anxiety. No cheating was involved. But my mom had some complete asshole moments since the divorce and didn't always make wise decision. Other than pickup or dropoff for visitation, my mom has only been around the other side of my twice that I can recall. That's been my choice. For my wedding though, they're all going to have to find a way past their feelings and deal with it. I want one picture with both sides of our families and one picture that has all of my family. Aside from that, they can stay on opposite sides of the room if that's what they need to do.

Ok so I was living with my mom and dad 8 months after I was engaged, without my FH. We moved in together in July, but we did budget our time and make plans for our careers too. I had enough money saved up for a car before I moved out, and the wedding. I think she should invite her step father for YOUR sake, but I agree with the others that she is not wrong for being resentful.

I wouldn't be inviting my dad if I had my way. Lying cheating abusive sack of garbage. But my mom has for some reason not divorced him (though she's not all that great herself, especially lately). Plus my baby sister still lives with them and she'd catch all his rage.

Like I said, I wouldn't be living with them. But yeah, if you can't respect your own marriage, I don't really want you witnessing mine. My brother already got married with only his and his now-wife's two children there. The idea that you have to have certain people there is just silly to me.

While I think that both her and her father should grow up, it is her wedding. I think you should try to have a heart-to-heart, it is ultimately her decision on who she invites and wouldn't be so harsh as to cause a wedge in your own relationship with her. While she SHOULD invite him as your +1 at the very least, she can't be forced to invite people if she doesn't want.

I don't consider cheating on your husband and marrying the guy a mistake.

How recent is this divorce? If it is recent then id say she has a right to ask him not to come. If it is not then she needs to move past it.

You don’t bring your boy toy to your daughters wedding after she specially asked you not to. come on, she’s getting married and doesn’t want to stare infidelity in the face on her special day. all you obsessed with ‘respect’ are too old and white. You need to respect your daughters wishes and if u can’t don’t go
