Custom hangers: was it worth it?

KristnH, on April 9, 2013 at 4:20 PM

I'm considering either purchasing or making some of my own custom hangers for myself and my BMs. For those of you who have them - was it worth the time & effort (DIY) or the cost (purchase)? And did you put names or titles (ie. "Kristin" or "Bride," "Danielle" or "Maid of Honor")?

I think they are really cute but I;m not sure if I would get them or not.

I love the idea as well but am aslo undecided if it's worth it to just look out for deals on Etsy or DIY myself. I have a lot of other DIY tasks on the go already for the wedding I think just buying them would be a better deal for me. I would definitely go with the person's name so they can use it always, if you tie a bow around it in your wedding colours it can always be taken off it they choose but at the same time, if they keep it on it may remind them of your special day. Just my thoughts.

Eh, I guess it was worth it since I only paid about $15. I only got one for me, with my date (I didn't change my last name, hence I'm Ms. M and not Mrs. S...people keep posting Mrs. M instead and it's driving me crazy, lol). It's just another hanger in my closet now. If you get them for your BP, I would definitely use their first names.

I bought mine & my BM's off Etsy. I wish I could do it myself but I have a feeling I would get frustrated

If I received one with my name (not BRIDESMAID), I'd use it for coats or whatever. I wouldn't throw it away but I also wouldn't display it for the world to see...

On the other hand, in the end, the intention is probably for it to be a prop in the bride's photos, so is it really a gift for the BM or for the bride??

@All Smiles: creationsbytilly is having a sale, $4.99 each. I'm not sure how often she has these sales, but do give yourself plenty of time when ordering.

I paid about $50 something dollars for 6 hangers with the creationsbytilly vendor on Etsy. I believe that it was worth the price and worth the wait instead of me trying to do

it myself. The less stress I put on myself the better off for me!

I made mine and I think they were worth the time. They cost less than $10 for 8 of them. I used the bridal party names rather than titles and used Mrs. Holm for mine.

I also got mine last minute (like last week) from Etsy with Mrs. whatsherface on it. I think it's so cute and will add a nice touch to photos of the dress. Plus I just like referring to myself as Mrs. whatsherface Smiley smile

I didn't realize so many people wanted personalized hangers! I'm thinking I may order one for me, but find something different for the BMs since they may not really care for it. @Glenda, you're probably right, that it's more of a gift for me than for the girls :/

I get the point of Amy's bridesmaids, I may use it again, but it wouldn't be seen and I can use any old plastic hanger to hang clothes with. I think it's great for the bride, for pictures, but it's not worth the cost for the bridesmaids.

I got mine off etsy for $14 including shipping. It took about 6 weeks to get but I love it so much! I would definitely recommend it! The seller is wishuponstarfish.

I wanted to order hangers as part of my BM's gifts and wanted one myself but couldn't justify spending so much money on them (once shipping was added). Since I have no idea or inclination to bend wire to spell names, I took a stab at creating my own based on an inspiration I got from a fellow WW bride. My 1st 2 attempts (I'll make some adjustments on my daughter's one, mainly the ribbon) but I don't think they turned out half bad and FH loved them.

@Roe those are so cute! I may have to try my hand at it and see how crafty I can be :p

@Future Mrs. Noble, thank you for that generous offer, but I'd need a lot more than materials for just 2. I'm betting I'll need some practice first, and then I have me plus 4 BMs... and possibly 2 moms, you never know :p
