Cover up that tattoo

Private User, on August 22, 2012 at 9:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

So I have this small tattoo on my left shoulder blade, and want to know if that tattoo cover-up/makeup really works...or what have worked for others out there with visible tattoos??

My make-up artist does airbrushing. Although I have 14 tattoos. I'm not covering mine.

If you're hiring a MUA have them do it.

If not.. Sally Hansen spray makeup for legs works well. Do light coats and let it dry in between. Thin layers to build coverage is best, also hold the can at least 10 inches from your shoulder to create a soft blended over spray.

I do makeup too and Ive used sallys stuff to cover an entire sleeve..

I have 5 tattoos all except 1 are visible when clothes are on, my mother has 4 all but 1 are visible when clothes are on, my sister has a bunch (idk how many for sure), my MOH/best friend has one that is visible, along with another one of my BM's has a few that are visible when clothes are on. I'm not having any of us cover them up. They are apart of us (and most of them are a representation of something).

As another girl with a tattoo, I can understand and support why you may want to cover it up. I'll be honest, my sister had one on her back that was faded and very small for her body frame and it looked kinda silly with her dress.

Mine isn't visible, but if it was, because of what it is (a simple Celtic knot) I'd probably leave it. It's black, goes with my colors! Lol.

I would do the airbrush make-up as suggested, or you can look up reviews online, I know Kat Von D. has some tattoo cover up make-up, (I KNOW so funny right?) but I've never used it.

I have one tattoo visible (two altogether). I'm hoping to get two more visible before the wedding. I'm proud of them. I'm not taking my gauges out or asking my FH to take out his gauge or lip rings. If he wants to, he will, but I'm marrying him for who he is.

    Http://www.sephora.com/tattoo-concealer-P231113?om_mmc=esv332600-GG&om_kwpur=336511932&ppc_crid=8924528777&site=us_search&esvcid=S1345652276_ADOGOB_AGI3830557_CRE8924528777_TID336511932_RFDd3d3Lmdvb2dsZS5jb20%3d#BVRRWidgetID

Read the how-to section because I guess you need a few other things of make-up, but out of over 1,000 reviews, it has 4 stars average, which is amazing! It's a little pricey as it's from sephora, but if it's something you want to do I say it's worth it. And it sounds like it's a great under-eye concealer too!!!

Is it an option to cover it with your hair? Just another idea if you don't want to go the makeup route.

Dermablend makes a couple of foundations that claim to cover up tattoos. Here is a link to one of them http://www.dermablend.com/foundations/foundations-severe-flaws/leg-body-cover.htm

@ Shannah..thats too funny..I also have a small black celtic knot tattoo not visible with clothes on tho. what are the odds Smiley smile

@ op, I agree with everyone. You have a vision for your day, so if you want it covered up, then I would try the sally's airbrushing stuff. I have heard it works wonders.

Be wary though, I've seen tattoo cover up smeared all over a white wedding dress by the end of the night.

Whenever I see posts about covering tattoos I think about the video posted here...

    http://gorgeousingrey.com/zombie-boy-dermablend/

It's pretty amazing. I'm not sure about smearing, I'd say test it out, but if it works for him, I think you shouldn't have any trouble!

I would go with airbrush - it will not smear so no danger of getting it all over your pretty dress!

Be careful with the tattoo make up (cover up) that you can buy from stores like Mac, Sephora, etc. That type of make up rubs off pretty easily and you will find make up all over your dress. I tried it to cover up my wrist tattoo for work and it was all over my clothes. DON'T COVER...be you girl!

I have 2 visible tattoos (shoulderblade and wrist). One of the dresses I'm looking at has off-the-shoulder sleeves that cut right through the one on my shoulderblade, so if I go with that dress I'd cover the tattoo. If I end up with something strapless, though, I'm making an appointment with my tattoo artist to get a touchup so the colors really pop!

I'm debating about covering minie also (I have a large one on my back, but it's really pretty)... so I might want to show it off anyway. I'd be afraid that the cover-up would somehow rub off onto my dress if I happen to perspire.
