Coronavirus affecting our wedding

Mai, on April 19, 2020 at 7:07 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
Wedding day is coming up (end of May). Our state predicts we can reopen a few businesses starting May 4. But possibly still can’t have gatherings with more than 10 people. Should we push back our wedding a year? Should we have it with just the two of us? One friend suggested we stream the ceremony online. It’s really sad that we are in this situation! This was suppose to be the best day of our lives! But we don’t want to put our families at risk of getting sick.

I would postpone, it's unlikely you can have a full wedding in May.

My state is supposed to open back up May 15th. My wedding was planned for June 20th and we decided to postpone till next year. Though it is heartbreaking their is a lot of comfort knowing we are keeping our family and friends safe. I think having a full on wedding only a few days after the state opens would put people at risk again. There is also the issues of the state putting that date back; my state has pushed our reopen date 3 times now so there is no telling what will happen in the coming month 😢

I Think You Should Postpone, Or Have A private Ceremony With Just You Two And Immediate Family And Have A Reception Later On.

    Hi there,

It's very proactive to start thinking about your options now! Based on the discussions I'm seeing, couples are doing MANY different things when it comes to Plan B. Here are some links to ongoing conversations:

    - Ceremony now, party later

Or, here are some May brides who decided to postpone their weddings:

    - Postponed our May wedding - the original post is about having a small ceremony in May and rescheduling for August

Lastly, WeddingWire has created resources that may be helpful as you navigate the planning process during this unprecedented time: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide.
