Concern about reception

Cynthia, on September 13, 2020 at 8:16 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 4

Hi everyone!

So i am one of the many brides who had to postpone her wedding a number of times due to covid. it was supposed to have been in late May in Cancun; however we are thinking of doing a renewal of vows next or the following year there instead.

For now though, i am planning on a much smaller ceremony within the next two months with just family and close friends. I know many places in the long island and Westchester areas are limiting the amount of people to 50 and i am absolutely ok with a limit for 40 for my event; however, does anyone know if dancing is permitted if i were to find a catering hall with availability? I am assuming not.

I am also debating on just having a dinner or late lunch at a restaurant, which i know will not allow for dancing or mingling. Anyone also have advice of any nice restaurants with private rooms?

Thanks and sorry for the long post!

Cynthia

Most places are, as far as I know, just insisting on masks if you can't maintain 6ft distance. Honestly, you'll be best served to check your states current Covid restrictions and ask your venue for their current policy. Good luck, hun!

As far as I am aware, dancing at receptions is not currently allowed in NY.

In terms of restaurants with private rooms that could do the 25% capacity and still hit 40 people... you might end up renting out the whole restaurant right now. I would look under the "Venues" tab, above, as well as on other wedding sites (to cross check).

    Good luck!

I would call your states COVID hotline and ask them specific questions and make sure you tell them the guest count. I did this in California and they were very helpful. As soon as I said wedding they were like no way, but once I told them the small guest count of 50 they were much more lenient.

Hi Cynthia! I think there's a ban on dancing in NY right now, but I'm not sure how long that will be in place. Here are a few discussions about it you should join:
