Clutch? Do I need one?

Mrs. Mallory, on December 16, 2013 at 12:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

My FMIL just ordered a clutch for the wedding and it got me thinking, do I need one??

I mean, I figure I may want to touch up my makeup at some point but maybe I can just get my FMIL to carry my stuff for me? Are you guys getting a clutch to bring for your wedding?

My bridal suite is in the building right next to my tent so I'll be going to the bathroom in there and will keep everything there.

I've decided against a clutch. I'll just leave stuff in the suite the venue has for brides to get ready.

I kept lipstick, an eyelash curler, oil absorbing sheets, and my jewelry (I changed between the ceremony and the reception). I would think you'd need something.

Nope. Having a clutch would be a pain. You'd have to put it down constantly whenever you want pictures or are doing anything where it gets in the way. My mother or FMIL will happily carry my stuff for me.

I posted a thread like last week about clutches and it was pretty unanimously unnecessary unless you need medication or something very specific like that during the event. I am just using a bride tote bag cuz I'm changing so I will have a TON of stuff

I didn't carry anything all night, either. If I needed anything, I could have gone to the bridal suite to get it, but I didn't.

I handed my essentials bag to my MOH and I have no idea where she kept it, but I trust her with my life so anything I needed, she got for me. Smiley smile

I won't have a clutch but I will put a BM (or MOH?) in charge of my bridal tote bag with everything I could ever possibly need that day!

I need a lot of medications on hand at all times. They won't fit in a clutch - I had my big ass crossbody purse with me. My DOC put it under the sweetheart table for me, no one could see it. And luckily I didn't need my medication!

I found a few cute ones on Etsy and my FH made fun of me. He was all "why would you need a purse at our wedding" - mainly to keep me from spending more money, as that 's kind of his unofficial role in wedding planning! I looked at him with a straight face and told him I'd make sure the seamstress leaves enough room in the bust of my dress for me to carry a compact, lip liner, lipstick, lip gloss and our room key, and that I'm sure no one would think it was weird or tacky, the bride digging around in her boobs and pulling stuff out like it was a clown car. He hasn't mentioned it since :-)

I didn't open my clutch at all. My consultant placed it under the sweetheart table and it stayed there all night. Glad I didn't purchase it or that would have been wasted money

I only bought one because my other clutches were dark or bright colors, which wouldn't go with my gown or wedding colors.

I liked having access to my lipstick and e-cig without having to go back to the suite or ask a BM for them.

I had one and I kept it on our table. I had my phone in my clutch, not that I thought I'd use it, but I was actually glad that I did have it. I had one friend and her husband who I saw at the ceremony (who traveled from out of state for the wedding) and I noticed they never made it to the reception. They didn't know anybody else there, so it wasn't like I could have anybody else get in touch with them. I was happy I was able to text them and see if everything was okay. I was worried that something happened to them on the drive from the ceremony to reception. Turned out that she was fine but was really sick. She thought she had gotten food poisoning from her dinner the night before, but when she got back home a few days later she went to the hospital and had to have her gallbladder taken out.
