Chelsea Clinton's Wedding Program

2d Bride, on August 7, 2010 at 12:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

I just ran across a copy of Chelsea Clinton's wedding program, which can be found here. Among other things, it contains descriptions of several of the Jewish wedding customs.

Lovely program. Since her husband is Jewish, it is expected that more than one "culture" would be represented.

I do like the fact that the took the time, in the program, to explain customs...and to recognize family members who had passed.

Yes. I was amused at one commentator's description:

Apparently, we had a nice Visigothic/Germanic/Frankish/Sarum Christian espousal, with no dowry beforehand; and everything else was a Jewish wedding thing or a cryptologist’s poem. Oh, and you can tell the bride was Southern because she brought an army of bridesmaids with her.

We had a total of two attendants for the two of us. (We never exactly figured out who was supposed to be whose attendant.) And I have never regretted that decision for a moment!

Did anyone notice God spelled G-D on the program? I can't imagine their program would have a typo. Wonder what that means? If anything.

@sharon - I think that some people believe that God's name should not be written, so they write enough to get the point across without including the whole thing. I've come across before when studying religion in school.

I noticed that they wrote out God once and then the next time they put it as G-d. I would have thought they'd have written them both the same. I liked that they wrote out the traditions.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! I also agree I would go crazy with 12 bridesmaids. I love how they really incoorporated both religions.
