Champagne is the official celebration drink!! 🍾 Is a champagne toast an integral part of your party plans?? Or are you skipping the champs and having your guests toast with whatever is already in their glass? Do you think a champagne toast is necessary or not? 🥂 Photo by Peter and Veronika Next...

We're having a brunch reception with a mimosa bar, so there will be champagne on hand and we'll do a toast, but guests can totally toast with whatever their drink of choice is. Whether it's a mimosa, a bloody mary, an Irish coffee, beer, wine or water, everyone raise a glass!

More fun if there is champagne..... guests like this part but if you're staying within a budget-- skip it!

A toast (champagne or not) is always nice but specifically a champagne toast is not necessary in the slightest.

I think toasts are necessary, it’s a time for people to say a few words to the couple, and for the couple to say a few words to their guests. Champagne isn’t necessary unless you really want to be traditional. We are likely going to do mimosas.

Unnecessary. I'm having people do the toasts with whatever is in their glasses.

I don’t think it’s necessary but it helps to hear what nice things people have to say about you and your FH

Unnecessary. I don't drink, and FFIL has trouble with alcohol, so the plan is to avoid it altogether if we can. No formal reception planned thus far, so it could well be a none issue anyway.

Not necessary. I do not like champagne. I am all for a toast, but it will be with my drink of choice!

The champagne itself is not necessary but the toast or speech while holding any beverage will do.

Not necessary. We'll toast with whatever people have in their glass. Not everyone likes champagne.

Not necessary. I don't drink, so I always feel bad that the couple wasted a glass of champagne on me (and will normally pass it off to someone else who wants more!). I do, however, think that providing alcohol is necessary at the reception; people can then toast with whatever drink they prefer.

We did a toast, but I don't drink, so I had apple juice, instead!

DH's BM was very excited about speechifying, and my dad had apparently planned out a whole speech... in the end, he just said a few simple words, but they were lovely.

We wanted to keep the speech/toast time short and sweet, but also allow for the tradition. It worked out well.
