Ceremony Venue says no rose petals....

Mrs. Phillips, on November 3, 2010 at 12:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 18

So i have always loved roses so i wanted to make my aisle way out of rose petals, or be traditional and have my flower girl throw them, so i decided to call and find out what i can do since i'm getting married in a flower garden. the lady told me "no rose petals, or rice throwing, i can use bubbles and bring my own aisle runner". now i would never throw rice in NY cause the pigeons would attack, but no rose petals. now i have to order an aisle runner and i'm going to give my flower girl a flower ball. So not fair!!!

Not to sound insensitive, but it is their property, they can make the rules. Have you considered rose garland to decorate the aisle with instead of a runner?

You could glue rose petals on the side of the aisle runner. you can have hurricane vases with candles and rose petals on the side. You could do garlands of roses.

Some places don't like rose petal because they can stain the floor - if that is why they are anti rose petals, maybe you could use silk rose petals? Seem like as long as you clean them up it should be fine.

Julie is right about them not wanting rose petals because it can stain the floor, not to mention it can stain your dress Smiley sad and no one wants that! oriental trading has a ton of silk rose petal colors Smiley smile just an option? sorry they're being stubborn about the petals.. My ceremony venue is the same way.

I shouldn't think they would have a problem with silk petals, as long as they are cleaned up afterwards.

Yea, my venue let us use real petals, but not silk ones. They informed us of this last minute so they let my flower girl put a couple of the silk petals down. Do they have aisle runners with petals attached. . . maybe this website will help

    Good Luck!

Do silk! It'll probably be the same amount of money to have the silk, and then you can sell them off Smiley smile

I'm using silk rose petals because where I am getting married they too, don't allow real flowers. It will work just as good for meSmiley smile

Why not offer to hire a person to clean up every last petal, or offer to pay an amount for venue staff to cover the cost of doing so - that's what this is about. A rake will make the job quicker but many will still need to be picked up. Petals dry and compost, but often not in time for another event.

BTW faux petals still need to be picked up, there may be a charge for them also.

I have over 2500 silk rose petals. It is kind of blasphemous to be a wedding venue and NOT allow rose petals of some sort isn't it? Just my opinion. I would check with them and see if they will allow for silk petals.

Oh No...I have to call the church and see what the deal is because the website says no rose petals but I HAVE to have the flower girls drop them for me. I'll do silk if I need to, hopefully that'll work for them!

Mine said if i have petals they have to stay on my isle runner. if you really really need them, somehow attach them to your isle runner (hot glue? stitching? lol) seriously though if it's that big of a deal. and you could have your fg carry a 'flower ball' or carry roses to hand out to your guy's parents on each side. just an idea. good luck. don't let the little stuff bum you out. there's always a creative way around all the obstacles you run into. and maybe even options you'll like better. so don't get discouraged.

Plus, if you're getting married in a flower garden, there'll be plenty of flowers Smiley smile

I am getting married in a rose garden, and we aren't allowed rose petals either. Luckily I'll be surrounded by roses, so I got over the disappointment pretty quick. The rose petal aisle runner that some of the ladies above mentioned, might work for you.
