Catholic Wedding....giving flowers as a sign of peace

Jessica, on November 17, 2010 at 12:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

So we are using gerbera daisies for this because all my flowers are pink gerbera daisies ( its the flower he brought me on our first date). I didn't just want to hand out one (fake) gerbera...it didn't look good so i made a small bouquet. What do you think? I was going to make three of them one for each of our moms and also one to put at Marys feet. Or is that nto a good idea?

I always prefer real, particularly for bouquets. It shouldn't cost more than a few dollars. If this is what you prefer though, go for it! When are you going to give them to your moms, during the actual sign of peace?

Are you also giving your moms corsages? Typically both mothers have some type of floral, like a corsage or a very small bouquet, from the start of the ceremony. If they will have corsages, then I think these are nice for the sign of peace. If not, I might give these to them before Mass starts (when the BMs and GMs get their bouquets and bouts), and then give them some other token if you want to do something special during Mass. Ladylee, who got married a few months ago, showed us handkerchiefs that she made for each mother...she embroidered on them "Dear Mrs. FMIL, Thank you for giving me the man of my dreams. Love, Ladylee" with the date and a pretty flourish on it...I thought that was a really sweet idea.

Totally unrelated, but what song are you using for the dedication to Mary? I really really don't want to use Ave Maria.

I would go w/ real flowers for bouquets. Daisy's shouldn't be too expensive & I had a friend do pink daisies for her wedding & it all looked great!
