Cash gift... Bridal shower

BetterThisTime, on September 13, 2016 at 3:33 PM

If you are throwing someone a bridal shower, instead of a wedding registry, can you put something like, "monetary gifts preferred?" If not, why?

GymRat - if you were closer, I'd be buying you margaritas on this Taco Tuesday.

No, it's rude. If people want to give money they will

FSS; if you want to have a cash shower, just have one. It makes zero sense and it's tacky AF, but you think it's fine, so go and do it!

You cannot shower a bride with cash because people can afford different amounts, No one knows for sure if the coffee maker or the toaster was more expensive, so neither giver needs to be embarrassed. If I can only afford $25 dollars and everyone else has brought over $100, that is undeniably, glaringly obvious, and I'll be humiliated.

So cash showers have far too much potential for hurting guest feelings.

@future if people would stop getting upset when they don't hear what they wanted to hear (or read what they wanted to read I should say) it wouldn't be this hard to find the posts that actually contribute to what I am in need of. Instead the same things keep getting brought up because a why is asked and a why is answered but the answer is not good enough for the askholes

I only treat people like that who deserve it.

    You're one of them.

Did you catch that thing that flew over your head? That was my comment to you.

The patience reference was for your FH.

    Bloop.

@gymrat- I still disagree with your philosophy regardless if the other party "deserves" it.
