Card and gift table, where did you put it?

Catherine, on July 9, 2019 at 8:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi!

I've been finding tons of cute things on Etsy for my April 2020 wedding, and I've always thought that the guest book, and card & gift table would be at the ceremony for people to drop their gifts off first and sign the guest book. But then I thought maybe I should have those tables at the reception too... where did you put those tables - ceremony spot, reception or both? If you did both then did you buy separate decorations for each table or just transfer everything?

Our ceremony and reception will be at the same place so we won't really have the issue of taking it to two places. We'll have the cards and gift table right when you walk in before you get to the ceremony space, though. I haven't decided where to put our guest book. We're doing a guest book alternative that will be a painting of a deer and people will put their fingerprints on the antlers. My brother and sister-in-law had the same type of guest book alternative, and they placed it at the reception space.

I would say leave the gift table for the reception and have the guest book at both.

Yeah, that's where I am struggling because we will be in two places. We are doing a guest book alternative too, a Polaroid guest book! I think we will do the guest book at the ceremony and then bring it to the reception for those who didnt get to use it and then just have the cards and gifts at the reception! Thanks!

We only had one at the reception spot since our ceremony was at a church. We had a designated table on the front patio of our venue for people to drop gifts/cards and sign the book. It made more sense for us because we didn't want anyone responsible for making sure the gifts got to us after the wedding. This made it easier on us and the DOC just made sure to put everything in our car once the reception got going.

I’ve seen the guest book at the entrance to the ceremony or somewhere at the reception. We will have ours at the reception for people to
sign during cocktail hour. I’ve never seen a gift table at a ceremony nor do I think it’s appropriate.

This! Some people only attend the ceremony and some only attend the reception. The gifts are only brought to the reception. I would be careful though and not leave the gift table out front or near the door. There are horrible stories of people making off with the card box and gifts because they are unsupervised.

Yes! While I trust my crowd, to save time on packing up the parents are going to pack up the gifts after dinner.

Hey Catherine! Have you decided what you will do with the gift and guest book tables?
