Candy Bar vs Caramel Apple Station

cristina, on August 21, 2012 at 2:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Has anyone done a caramel apple station for their wedding? I really like the idea but i dont know how to incorporate it and mix it with our candy station as well or just have one or the other.

It would depend on cost and space if you do both. I've seen the idea, I've also seen s'mores bars (I SO wanted that but open flame decided against it! Lol)

I think if you do both, I'd put it next to the candy bar. You wouldn't want to mix them as it could get crowded and messy. Which is something else to figure out. A Caramel apple station could get really messy with guests. Have you ever made them yourself? And then everyone in nice clothes?

I do love the idea though, but the execution would need to be perfect.

I never done caramel apples so I don't even know if we would need to hire someone to assist them in making them space is not a problem because I can put them in two separate areas of the hall and cost I have no idea How much that would cost

A caramel apple station sounds fun, but it might be really messy. i think a candy bar is a lot safer.

Ps I created a FB page for us WW december brides; there are a few of us on there ( I think 20 ). We still post on WW, but it is nice to have ladies to keep us on track and to share our DIYs and deadlines with. if you would like to join just let me know and I can PM you the link Smiley smile

I like the idea of a caramel apple station but I also think it would be too messy for me to want to eat it in a nice dress. If you have to choose one or the other I would go with candy bar as it would appeal to more people.

That sounds so fun. I had a candy buffet but I never thought about a candy apple station. I agree with all the ladies about possibly it being to messy but you could already have the apples made. That way niether u or your guests will make a mess. Here's a pic I found.

While I think they are a cute idea, I wouldn't want to eat a candy apple at a wedding. They are messy, caramel is sticky, etc, etc. Candy bars are always a win!

I LOVE the idea of a caramel apple station for a wedding! If you're worried about the mess, you could have the plastic wrappers available for people to wrap them up and take them as their favors?! That's definitely what I would do if it were me! Smiley smile And I would definitely look into having someone "running" the station.. just like ice cream sundae bars, etc..

    Good luck!

I've only seen them used as favors, which works out great since you need a knife in order to eat them.

What about a modified version? Slices of apples to dip into the candy? I'd be less afraid to eat that in a dress!

I love this idea!!! I have a caramel apple station when working at a school carnival (totally different I know) but as the apple dipper it was a HUGE mess...but the decorating was fine. So maybe have someone work as the caramel dipper so guests clothing wouldn't get messy...

Mmmm. Am I the only one thinking about taking caramel dipped apples and rolling them around in munched up candy bars? Kinda like Cold Stone Creamery!

I vote for carmel apple station! Its super unique! I wouldn't do both...that's way too much sweets! If you have enough money to do both, do one and then do a midnight snack or extra appetizers, that's savory. I think midnight snacks are such a great idea, and I am sure they will be enjoyed more than so much sweets!

Don't know how the station would work, but I've made caramel apples for one of our Relay for Life bake sales....ONCE. They were the biggest pains in the a$$ to make and I will never do that again. It was hugely messy and sticky...not sure how that would work at a wedding.
