Oh heck no! If I’m shelling out the big bucks for good food and cake then I better get to eat some! I’ll get my plate to go for our hotel if I have to.

Not married yet.... however the wedding coordinator at the venue said she always makes sure to save appetizers from cocktail hour from the bride and groom and we are the first table to be called for our buffet, so we get a chance to eat while everyone is being called up to the buffet.

We chose the buffet because my FH loves to eat and he wanted to make sure he didn't get a tiny portion, lol so he is making sure we get our moneys worth lol.

We did not do a first look, but our guests were respectful and allowed us to eat. My SIL didn't eat at her and my brother's wedding because guests came and interrupted during dinner. Just make sure that if someone comes and talks to you, that you keep stuffing your face.

Awesome!! I like to eat. FH wanted a buffet because he wanted people to be able to eat anything they wanted instead of choosing btwn and meat and a predesignated side. I wanted a plated so we compromised and decided to do family style. It’ll be many choices so people can have as much or as little as they like, they can have everything or choose one of a meat or side instead of having to choose one meat one side etc which fills FH’s wants and it being bought to the table fills my wants of the food being brought to the people. We will have servers help with serving if anyone doesn’t want to serve themselves!

I definitely ate at my first wedding. It's up to you tell everyone "I'm going to eat now." and go do it.

Hahaha yes I will keep stuffing my face. Everyone knows I love to eat so they will understand. Also I have no problem bringing a plate around me while greeting guest. Those photos will capture exactly who I am and the love I have for food.

I'm not diabetic, but if my blood sugar dips, as it can every once and a while, I'm out for the day. So I am eating. I'm not thin, so the fact that I eat isn't a secret. If it's so necessary for someone to talk to me, they can find me and talk to me. I'll eat while talking to them. I'm not too proud. But I have to think that people who don't eat on their wedding day have never experienced hangry the way my crowd does.

See if your caterer can dedicate someone just for you and your FH. Our catering said we will always have one person specifically for us so they can bring us water, hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, sneak us dinner in case we get too busy at the reception, etc. This person was already in our catering budget, so it was a nice surprise during our tasting to see the breakdown of staff!

Yes! Good tip. We will definitely have someone assigned to us. Also I’ve already told the photographers I want candid shots not too posed so that will free up a lot of time since we won’t have to designate so much time to the posed pictures. Cocktail hour I need to be there for at least half of it. That’s my favorite part of weddings lol

Eat, Girl! You worked for it, paid for it, earned it. I already talked to the coordinator at my reception venue. We are scheduled to have plates prepared and served to us at the sweetheart table. When that time comes, "Love you all! We are eating now."

Yes, same here! we're also doing a first look, so I'm hoping we can bang out most of the photos before the ceremony so we can enjoy our cocktail hour as well. I was SO EXCITED to pick out the food, I WANT to EAT the food and enjoy it with my guests. haha

I ate a full meal. And more. And more later. We did most pics early, and after the ceremony we're back with guests within 15 minutes, so we mingled at cocktails. And did not rush our meal to visit others at their tables while they were still eating, as some couples do . We did circulate enough later to see everyone, just not during the meal. And after dinner, the catering crew had set up the dining room with extra chairs put here and there. We had 8 people at our table for 10, and frequently when we were not dancing we sat down at tables with others for 5-10 minutes, just pulling up extra chairs. Or other people sat down 10-15 min at a time with us. When we had our pie, and cheesecake. And plate of crackers and cheese and fruit. On top of the original meal. I see so many couples unnecessarily rush their own meals to get up and do rounds of tables, really not a good idea. Or always standing over others sitting, or sitting with others standing over them. No one eating It really is more likely you will eat if you and the people you are talking with are seated together a while. And if you are at as many minutes of early post ceremony cocktails, or coffee hour, or whatever, rather that putting going off to do pictures for the entire time. People have been increasing the time spent away from guests from 20-30 minutes, to 45, and now so many do pics for an hour. Better to have some of that pre dinner time to see people, your guests. And need less time for table rounds later.

Haven’t had my wedding yet but I was a MOH and they had the bridal party get food first (it was a buffet style) and then after we sat the rest of the guests got their food so whole they were in the process of getting it and eating it the bride and groom had time to eat before making rounds!

My husband and I ate our entire dinner! We made it to half of our cocktail hour and made sure to talk to as many of our guests that we could during that time, which helped when it came to dinner. When salad was served we were able to eat our hor d’oeuvres that were passed during cocktail hour and then our full dinner (which was outstanding, so I’m glad we ate it)! After, we then talked to some tables that included guests we missed during the half of our cocktail hour. It worked out very well!
