At our wedding we had a buffet but they brought plates with some of everything to us so we could get right to sitting and eating while everyone was lining up to get their food. DH ate most of his and I ate my normal portion of food so a few bites of everything lol.

When I was doing wedding photography a lot of brides big complaint was that they got so wrapped up in feeling obligated to talk to each person that they didn't even realize they missed dinner. Make a point to sit and eat. While we were eating people stopped at our table on the way to theirs and congratulated us and we chatted for a moment so we still got to greet everyone and eat at the same time. Worked really well for us. I refused to be the bride who didn't eat an expensive dinner we paid for lol

I understand people want to greet their guests but I'm not sacrificing sitting and enjoying my dinner. We will get to see people throughout the night. I also feel like I'm interrupting people eating while we're running around talking to everyone. If they really want to see us, they can make their way to us just as easily. Lol

We made it a point to eat. We put a lot into our menu so we did picture before our ceremony and did a lot of thanking of people for coming during cocktail hour.

I have heard this too. It actually sounds like lack of priorities. Everyone I know who has had a full meal at their wedding had time to eat the entire meal with no issues. They said had plenty of time to greet guests without cutting into meal time. Why would you pay for a full dinner and not attempt to eat any of it?

I ate a whole meal lol, and my husband actually ate 2 (he asked the server for another plate because he was starving) 😂. We made sure to have time to sit down to eat. We had a sweetheart table so it made it easier for us to step away and take a few minutes. Most people honestly respected us alone at the table and didn’t come over to bug us while we were there (I think my mom and my father in law came over a couple times but they weren’t a bother, and didn’t delay us from eating)
