Calling all disorganized, procrastinating, and busy brides! I need feedback!

Colleen, on April 25, 2012 at 1:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I'm a very disorganized and indecisive person, and I've been entirely too busy over the past year of planning between work (32 hours a week), grad school, my internship (about 20 hrs a week), and of course, the planning! I have 47 days until my wedding and my online checklists still say I'm a good number of items behind. I still need to plan my entire ceremony, pick out music for the musicians (and possibly get a 2nd singer), pick out music for the reception, book my hotel room for the night, possibly get limos, plan my day out, get makeup trials, get my hairpiece and jewelry, get my panties for the day, pick out and order favors, order any details for the day such as guest book, unity candles, programs, etc., find a place to live!, plan seating arrangements when replies finish coming in, and I'm sure there's plenty more I'm forgetting. Am I stressing too much? Can it be done with my busy schedule (although my work hours are reduced for May)? I'm beginning to panic!

The good thing about your list is that your pretty much have all the big things. like venue, caterer, dj.

you can book hotel online...thats simple.

if you order stuff online, guest book, unity candle, cake cutter, panties, favors, jewelry, etc can all be ordered online...shipped right to your front door.

if you set aside 20 to 30 min a day to make phone calls, shop online, order things, pick out music, etc i think you will be fine.

also, makeup trial isnt necessary if you do your own makeup. i would say favors are optional as well, most people leave them behind anyway.

you definitely need to figure out what you do need and what you dont. that will make everything less stressful. Lists always help me feel less stressed.

My advice, get some help! There are things you can assign to people

favors, have someone help you find something you want- or skip them all together!)

book the hotel now, most hotels can take reservations 24/7 and it only takes a min

if you want to do a guestbook, you can get a basic one from a craft store or order online (Carly is absolutely right, most of this can be ordered online, no leaving the house required!)

You can come up with a small list of must have music and ask your dj to help you with the rest, my dj gave some excellent input so I don't have to pick ALL of the music

See if you can take one day to get all the accessories for your attire

well.. that's all I've got for now anyway Smiley smile

Keep calm and carry on girl!

Im almost in the same. take it one day at a time. everything that matters will get done. i still need to plan my ceremony. just look online or talk to your FH or officiant. you dont necessarily need limos or hotel rooms night of, but if you want them just book them online on your lunch break or soemthing. I do a lot of planning on my iphone.you dont need makeup trials either. I'm probably not doing them.

and all the other things you need, like jewelry, undies, unity candles, etc. just take off a day before the wedding and either buy everything you need or order online. I make the MOST out of day offs or half day off and do as much as i possibly can.

It will all come together. Dont worry. Good luck Smiley smile

Thanks, ladies! I didn't even realize how much of this stuff can be done online. I'm not really a fan of online shopping, but when I think about it, if it looks weird when I get it, most of the online stores take returns (as opposed to wedding shops and salons). Most of my big stuff is done, and I'm picking out stuff more quickly now. I guess my instincts will kick in even more the closer I get. So glad I have 3 weeks off of school soon!
