Our semi-formal feel has me going for stacked. Unstacked looks really formal for a lot of the ones I've seen or very garden chic.

I prefer separate, I think. Though stacked looks more elegant, separate would be more practical.

I think separated cakes are probably more easily transported and cut, but I still prefer the look of stacked cakes
