Cake smashed in the face?

K, we've all seen them. America's Funniest Home Videos of couples who take the cake tasting a tad to far and end up with it all over themselves. My question is, is anyone planning on to this on the big day?

The reason it's on my mind is my boss came back from her niece's wedding last weekend and has a story fit for the Jerry Springer show. Apparently the bride thought it would be a hoot to ambush her groom and smear the cake all over his face and in his hair. It was all fun and games until he decided to get her back. Instead of taking it in stride she began crying because it was all over her and began swinging and smacking him....in front everyone! He was trying to fend her off and I guess this went on for a few minutes until finally she DECKED HIM IN THE FACE! The family is currently taking bets to see how long the marriage lasts.

Personally, my FH is well aware he is not to do this to me, or I to him. I am spending way too much to look pretty to end up with cake in my hair.

It was totally done. Theres red velvet stains on the inside lining of my dress from the cake that fell down my dress (although thankfully not on it). DH did the first jab and then I got him back right away. The pictures are pretty funny. I don't regret it in the least! Gotta have a little fun!!

But make sure you have some touch up make up for after wards when the photographer decides that would be a great time to take more pictures. lol

I think everyone is way too serious these days. We are not planning on cake smashing but if it spontaneously happened it wouldn't be the end of the world. I think there will be bigger hurdles to jump in our marriage than that.

I can't imagine a full on smash. However, I want to do cupcakes for an outdoor casual wedding. FH seemed disappointed so I asked why. He said he wanted a cake to cut so he can get me. I'm casual, no big money on dress, hair or makeup. However, I plan to make it clear if it's more than I need a napkin for he's in deep dodo.

Apparently it is based on a Roman tradition to throw cake at the couple for good luck.

That is just not right... you can't smash the cake if you can't take a cake smashing... come on.

I always have this vision of one of us trying to cake smash and ending up with a broken nose.

    We will not be smashing

I don't want to because I don't want to mess up my make up. I would end up mad if I got hurt probably lol like if he smashed too hard or something? lol but yeah, no, it's not for me. But I'm not offended by it and didn't hear about it being bad luck until an episode of teen mom lol.

Haha, yeah we're not doing it either. We're both pretty picky about our faces. We're going to still feed each other a bite of cake, just no smashing.

Beyond tacky. I won't call it the name I feel it deserves, however, in order to not hurt anyone's feelings.

We did it when he came to the bridal shower at the end like midnight in front of everyone. SUPER FUN. But it's very clear this cannot happen at the wedding.

In my culture everyone does it to get the crowd excited. So I don't know if tacky is the word for it. Different people believe different things

I told my FH if he tries it, i'm taking his honeymoon tickets, giving them to my MOH and we're going on vacation without him. I was 50% joking, but I'm not spending hours and money getting my hair and makeup done for it to be ruined by a cupcake.

I absolutely hate this and think it is the most disrespectful tradition ever. I never understand how either people feel good about it!!

Wow I'm shocked so many people hate this! I've seen it at every wedding I've ever been to (at varying levels, of course). I hadn't really thought about whether we were going to do it or not but I guess I should make a stand against it if so many people dislike it.

I thought it was just my mother being ridiculous again....lol

Funny, we never thought about it or discuss it. Now I know what we will be talking about tonight. To smash or not to smash,

I don't mind a little on my cheek or nose but a full on smashing would piss me off.... I think. If I'm tipsy and on cloud 9, I may not even care.

We have already discussed it and FH knows he'd better not smash cake in my face nor will I smash it in his. Besides we are paying almost $4 a slice for that friggin cake, I wish ANYBODY would do anything with it but eat it!! lol

No, didn't happen! We still had a blast & enjoyed our cake [as did our guests on both accounts]!

Wow, this is a strongly opinionated topic! At every wedding I have ever been to, the couple playfully smashes the cake. I mean, not full on cake wrestling but just a bit of cake smoosh. If it weren't for my 3 year old being greatly disturbed by people getting messy, FH and I would be doing a little cake smoosh.
