Brides with glasses - are you wearing them on your wedding day?

Kelly, on March 8, 2015 at 10:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

Just a question to all the other bespectacled ladies out there - are you wearing your glasses on your wedding day? I wear glasses daily. I'm really not supposed to wear contacts because I'm blind in one eye and my "good" eye has had some issues with contacts in the past. I checked with my doctor, though, and he said I could wear the disposable one-day contacts every once in a while.

My mom thinks I look more "bride-y" (her words, not mine) without my glasses and that I should opt for contacts during the pictures and ceremony. I don't see quite as well with contacts, and I've been wearing glasses for so long that I think I look funny without them.

Other ladies with glasses - are you wearing your glasses on your wedding day? I considered maybe even buying more feminine "bride-y" glasses, since my everyday ones have black frames.

I only need them to read. So I will only have them on when I read my vows.

I am not wearing mine. I have contacts that I wear very rarely, but my wedding will be one of those rare occasions.

I'm pretty blind without mine, and I'm still not going to wear them! No way. They don't go with my big ballgown lol

I wear glasses to work, because I work in a lab, but I wear my contacts on the weekends or when I have an event on a weeknight. I am absolutely wearing contacts, because I think I look better with them. But if you wear glasses all the time, people will think you look weird without them. If I ever wear my contacts to work the people who I work with think I don't look like myself. If I were you I'd still wear glasses, but maybe get some bridal frames, like you said. Make sure you invest in an anti-glare coating for your lenses so they don't reflect the flash from the photographer!

I wear my contacts more than anything, so I will not be in my glasses unless something happens to my cocntacts

Ren, good point about the anti-glare coating! Definitely will look into that if I decide to get some more bridal-looking frames. I'm still not quite decided. Even if I wear contacts for the ceremony, I'll probably switch to glasses before the reception. I'm not sure that my eyes will tolerate the contacts for the whole 5-hour event! The other thing I forgot to mention is that my "bad" eye doesn't line up with my "good" eye - because of the injury that blinded that eye, it turns out slightly. I've been told this is less noticeable when I wear my glasses.

I'll have mine on until right before makeup. I wear disposable contacts on very rare occasions, and after 6-8 hours I'm ready to tear them out, so I want them to be one of the last things I do to prepare. LOVE the idea of getting more "bridal" glasses though! If there are such a thing, haha.

My mom is very pro-contacts, mainly because my vision didnt go until I was 24-25, and she's used to seeing me more in life without glasses.

Im undecided. I think I will end up wearing them just to make sure I can see my FH face when I walk down the aisle.

I'm definitely wearing contacts that day, even though I always wear glasses. I just love the way I look so much more without the glasses and I wouldn't want the glasses to throw off the look I'm going for and cover up my makeup, etc.

I would wear them, especially if your guests and FH recognize you best in them.

I honestly hadn't given any thought to whether or not I would wear mine. My vision is not so bad that I need them, but I do prefer them when driving and to recognize faces better from across the room. When I get my dress I'm going to try on every pair I have with it to decide, for sure. If I'm going to wear mine for anything, it will be for the ceremony and not the reception (some of my pairs don't stay on my face that well anymore).

I can't wear contacts and my eyesight is too poor to go without glasses the whole time. I just went to Sam's Club and got rimless glasses. I'm hoping it will help with the pictures.

I will be wearing contacts until the reception. FH wears glasses and he will be sticking to glasses but I had him switch out the lenses. He had transitions and I didn't want them to look dark in pictures.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll deal with the slightly blurry vision with disposable contacts.

Most likely? I'll spring for a seriously groovy pair of specs and either make them a colourful statement item or a discreet gold pair.

Im wearing my contacts because it'll be easier for photos. But I like the idea of a bride in glasses. Especially glasses that make a statement. Chunky or colorful. But as others have suggested is make sure they were anti glare

I always think brides should wear their glasses if that is what they are more comfortable in. If you wear glasses everyday you won't look like you without the glasses. I have seen some very beautiful brides with glasses.

I will be wearing contacts, I have been wearing my glasses the last few months all the time as I ran out of contacts and haven't gotten any new ones yet. I typically wear glasses to work and contacts when I go out.

I'm not - like you I only liked to wear my contacts once in a while - so my doctor prescribed me the dailies. I don't have any issues with them though - I just prefer glasses. I like the look of pictures without them though, so I've been wearing them more and more often to get people used to me without glasses.

I have a friend who did what you are doing though - she only wore them for the ceremony and pictures and switched to her glasses for the reception. I think whatever you want to do is fine.
