Bridal Shower vs. Wedding Gifts

The bridal shower and wedding are 2 seperate gift giving occassions. Typically the registry is the same, but oftentimes, the wedding gift might be monetary. And the bridal shower gift is rarely monetary.

We had friends that gifted us at both our shower and our wedding, and I've gifted at both a shower and wedding.

I will usually buy a smaller, cheaper item off the registry for a shower, and a larger ticket item for the wedding. But for pretty much ALL the weddings I went to last year, I tried to even out the amounts I spent on each couple, so that if they got both a shower and wedding gift, I'd spend about the same for a couple that just had the wedding. But that's just my personal hang up.

I was reading the "duties" of the wedding party just the other day and is stated that the MOH was supposed to give a gift at the bridal shower and at the wedding.... Really sometimes I don't understand proper wedding etiquette.. I think that is the craziest thing in the world and would never expect anyone to give me two gifts... But that is just me.. maybe I'm not very proper..

Yes. Two different gifts. What I have been told is you will get a lot of gifts of the registry for bridal shower and then more monetary gifts for the wedding.

Just what everyone else said.. Two different gifts.. I received gifts for the bridal shower from my registry as well as wedding gifts from my registry..

The purpose of the shower is to shower the bride with gifts. Not everyone invited to the wedding is necessarily invited to teh shower. Should be closer friends and family.

But if you are invited to the wedding, even if you don't go, you should also give a gift...
