Bridal shower, did you pay for yor own?

Paris, on June 2, 2011 at 4:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 17

Hey ladies!!! I am suppose to have my bridal shower july 9th right....thing is that I am paying for it. Sad yeah.....sorry ass bridal party! But I am not the type to ask. My matron was going to do it but she has a little situation going on. And that I understand, but there was not many volunteers from my bridal party either. So i said I would do it. She is doing a little something, but i am doing the rest. Anyone else had a similar situation?

One of my showers was like that. My Aunt threw me one for family, but the one for my friends/co-workers was up to my BMs. I didn't ask for much, just cupcakes and we had it at a wine bar. I said I would buy the wine. Another friend found out I was paying and she ending up buying the wine. One BM quit right before over something stupid. And another one who claims she worked for a catering company made the most disgusting cupcakes. Mine were good, and from a box. Then when it came time to take home the left overs, she took the ones I made! Ugh.

@michelle...lol at the cupcakes...its the thought that counts. Let me say this though. My mom is decease, and my sisters stay 3 hours away. I dont have that many family members that I am close to here. or have the money to do so. I dont mind cause I know the outcome will be good from close friends and co workers, and in laws, But there is not much special to it in planning for me. I am going to get some plain pink and green table cloths and balloons from walmart. couple finger foods, drinks, cupcakes, we have bout 8 games oh and prizes total cost 145

I've never really cared whether i had a shower or not, if someone throws one for me great- if not whatever. But it sounds like you know what you want and your happy to do it so it'll all work out best for you..... not sure that statement came out right... I mean it in a nice way not a bad way.....

@shellie thanks... and thats how I felt at 1st, then my MOH offered to do one, word got out...and now finances. Its not so bad after all. I also went to my bride to be cousin in law bridal shower recently...no doubt I want that. lol. Plus we just cut back $1300 by having the reception at my church center for only 60, so why the heck not! lol...

@renee, me too....I am already married, but i want the whole experience too, I guess thats why we're having a wedding....lol. I just looked at my walmart delim and their platters are very cheap! And their food is good, so i am going to get a couple platters which brings my spending down . Ima do the chicken wings, deli sandwiches, fruit tray, from walmart, and then my MOH will do the bbq weenies, pasta salad, chips and dip. The trays are from $10 -20. Those ones are $15 each. so that being said....i may spend like only $80

I am paying for and planning my own shower too! I tried to convince my FH that I didn't want one but he insisted...and thing is...he isn't even going to be there!!! lol. Mine is going to run up about $300 or so. I had to pick a place in the middle for his family and mine sooo its going to be at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar Smiley smile Maybe I'm being too thoughtful about people traveling but that's me!

My friend & co-worker offered to do my bridal shower and what she did was make reservations at a tea room and she put on the invitation for everyone to bring $25. This covered the afternoon tea plus my meal and the champagne that she brought. All she ended up doing was having to bring favors, which were little mini-succulent plants, very cute, cheap, and made the table look nice (doubled as a decoration). The afternoon tea was $18 pp, so we just divided that by the estimated number of guests, added in tip, and a little more to cover my meal & the champagne. No one seemed offended by it and I got the idea from another girl that did an afternoon tea at a museum and had everyone bring $20 to cover.

That works for you. If I had the money I would help pay for my shower that I'm having with my friends and family. I'm going to make the cocktails ... and I may come up with a fun favor ... my family shower is being completely handled by my Aunts, bms, FMIL and my Dad are helping ... but I got to give them my ideas.

My girls are being AMAZING! I am not even allowed to know what's going on. They only asked what I wouldn't want and what day worked for me. That's it! I told them no toilet paper dress and I'm good! lol Mine's this weekend and I'm excited to see what they came up with!

I am paying for mine because my friends feel that since we are going away alone for the renewal that giving me a shower is pointless and needless.

Well I see that I am not the only one....When we did go to the court house last year they gave me a bachelorette party, and it was a total surprise....i felt bad that i was such a pisser towards them that day cause they were avoiding me...lol, it was a great surprise though, they had a suite at the marriott and tons of food and drinks. We had straws, balloons, forks, and spoons that looked like penis. and they had me a tiara with little penis on them and the pin on that everytime it goes off they have to get me a drink. That was cool. And then we out to a club and we had this bachelorette card game with dares that we did....crazy night!!! I do admit i was kind of hurt by nobody wanting to do the bridal shower but than again IDC lol.

I also have 2 bridesmaids that are out of town, but i have tons of friends here...the weekend of the wedding I am going to be spending time with my family (dad, siblings, neices and nephew) because we rarely all be together at once. We are having family portraits done, and a nice luncheon with the in laws the day before the wedding. And we also have rehersal dinner, so time is going to be valuable.
