Bouquet Alternative

So we aren't having any flowers at our wedding. I've been thinking about what the bridesmaids would hold instead of a bouquet then. So we aren't having any flowers at our wedding. I've been thinking about what the bridesmaids would hold instead of a bouquet then. I've thought about doing clutches or something, but I was wondering if you did something other than a bouquet what did you use or have seen around. I've googled but I like hearing from other people as well. It's not a money thing when it comes to the flowers; I just really hate flowers. So fake flowers or paper flowers aren't what I'm looking for either.

OMG...you HATE flowers? Sure. I'm absolutely convinced that it has nothing to do with the cost.

Do you hate blind kittens and three legged dogs, as well? Knock it off. You don't want to pay for flowers. So, hey...here's an idea. Carry Poison Ivy.

    Give me a break.

@Rachel - Not everyone likes flowers so calm down. I actually don't like animals either, for whatever that does for you. If it was about money I'd be open to paper flowers or fake flowers or book page flowers, ect. but I'm not because I don't like the look or appearance of flowers. Same goes for greenery that others have suggested; it just isn't my style.

@AdventuresofRuth - I was originally going to do that but my BM's asked for something to hold onto.

@Alexis - Our bride and groom toppers are D&D minnies (sp) that FH had specially made. We are having candle votive as centerpieces, only instead of translucent beads in the bottom it will be translucent gaming dice. Gaming music for ceremony.

I do like the candle idea; I'll be running that past the girls. They already said they liked the clutch/purse idea, I just wanted to give them some options.

@Natalie - I know you're being sassy, but I actually find that awkwardly adorable. LOL. If I was doing yellow, it could be a thing Smiley xd

'My best friend had us carry something that reminded us of her.'

How indulgent and quite frankly, bizarre for the guests.

If you don't like puppies I suppose kittens are out.

    In no particular order:

    Chickens

    Origami frogs

    Fidget spinners

    Rubics cubes

    Pigeons

Snakes, you might need to find a snake handling church though

    A can of beer

A man, have them walk with a groomsman

    Bibles

Sex For Dummies books, they can read while you do the vow and other boring parts of the wedding

This is a little silly so everyone feel free to make fun of me but what if each bridesmaid had a colorful ribbon wand (or wands) that they held up and allowed to trail behind them? If y'all are into Harry Potter (no shade) the wands could be actual wands and each ribbon could have a different spell on it (though please none of the unforgivable curses). You could also have little ribbon hoops or even ribbon bracelets and they could hold their arms out to the side and let the ribbons trail behind them like wings.

There's also bubbles. They could blow bubbles but bubbles popping on guests' formal outfits is not so great.

OR they could ride razor scooters down the aisle. I would get a kick out of that as a guest. AND THE SCOOTERS COULD HAVE RIBBONS ON THE HANDLES. I'm clearly having some sort of ribbon episode.

Oh! Oh! Or balloons. Balloons are cute and not as awkward as clutches. Not super environmentally friendly, but cute.

    Okay I'm done. Good luck!

I always feel sorry when people ask a serious question and they get pages of teasing of the OP

a girl i work with is doing balloons, i'm not sure how that is going to work but shes obsessed with the idea. when i googled quickly I saw some pretty fans, pin wheels and someone with a pink and blue theme did cotton candy ( though that could seriously become a sticky situation) .

I love flowers so its hard to imagine people not liking them ( my cousin is one of those people and she did button bouquet) , I def went over budget on my greenery/floral expenses!

Honestly anything else looks weird. Pinterest is failing you on this and tricking you into thinking it's a good idea, much like most things on Pinterest. If you really don't want anything even greenery, then I say don't do anything. Guys don't carry things and they have survived for decades. That being said, it doesn't effect guest comfort, so I guess do whatever.

ETA: Natalie, you are hilarious. Thanks for entertaining me the last couple nights at work - it's nice to have an Aussie that's up at this time Smiley smile And @SnowWhite lololol. I do that all the time.

Personally I think pinwheels, bubbles, and balloons look childish. Most kids over the age of ten wouldn't want to carry any of that. I can't imagine an adult wanting to. I think clutches look odd and I would be trying to guess what is in them and why they are carrying them. Surely your bridesmaids don't need tampons, lipstick or their phone during the ceremony.

Just have the bridesmaids and groomsmen walk together with the bm's hand on his arm like you will do with your dad and husband.

@Lindsey - Don't worry I can handle the teasing; I'm having a good time Smiley smile

As far as the pictures and ideas some are great, and some are hilarious. If I had them carry pineapples it could double as their gift and they could have fresh pineapple the next day! Same for the candy bouquet lol

YES to the dresses with pockets suggestion. I get weirdly overexcited whenever I find a dress with pockets. They. Are. The. Best!

I also liked the suggestion of them carrying a book, like a nice leather-bound volume. I do think it would look "non traditional" because guests are expecting the visual aesthetic of flowers, but I also think you could give each person a book/novel that you think they would enjoy reading as a gift.

And honestly most of the non traditional wedding things that are becoming more trendy (colored wedding dresses, mixed-gender BP) probably looked "weird" when they first started popping up, but now most people think they're awesome,
