So we aren't having any flowers at our wedding. I've been thinking about what the bridesmaids would hold instead of a bouquet then. So we aren't having any flowers at our wedding. I've been thinking about what the bridesmaids would hold instead of a bouquet then. I've thought about doing clutches or something, but I was wondering if you did something other than a bouquet what did you use or have seen around. I've googled but I like hearing from other people as well. It's not a money thing when it comes to the flowers; I just really hate flowers. So fake flowers or paper flowers aren't what I'm looking for either.

Go full nerd- hold Pokeballs, or Pokémon plushies. Or costume props, superhero symbols. Could be really fun if you make it your own

Lol I've seen the puppy one before; adorable even if it is super impractical!

You guys have some great ideas!

I know someone who is making their bouquet out of herbs. I like the idea of going with something that goes with the nerdy idea, but I don't know how to make it work (full disclosure though, I'm team flowers)

No lanterns. It's like they'll be signaling Paul Revere's ride or being Quasimoto's assistants to investigate the catacombs of Paris. Yes, it's a theme, but not necessarily a wedding one....

And they weigh a ton. And no one outside of pinterest wants to do that. Or look at it.

I suggested hors d'oeuvres trays before. Maybe cupcakes, maybe festive baskets of rolls. Maybe their shoes; maybe lava lamps.

What the heck is wrong with flowers? It's an easy, pretty solution.

Larry, the puppy thing was a styled shoot, and it's about as far from humane as you can get. Sweet tap dancing jesus.

@Celia - There is nothing wrong with flowers if you like them. However, I don't, which I've said multiple times. And there is nothing wrong with having something other than flowers. To each their own.

I hear yea, well I don't hate flowers persé but I don't like the idea of spending lots of money on something that isn't going to last. I get their appeal and I'll even buy flowers for people who appreciate them but I didn't want them at my wedding - instead I used paper bouquets made from comic book prints.

That being said there are so many options if you don't want your bridal party carrying flowers - lanterns, books, purses, baskets, etc.

@Celia I did not suggest doing it, just said it was adorable! Which it definitely is.

I also would not suggest walking down the aisle with food. Your girls aren't waitresses. If @Newnoakua doesn't like flowers than flowers would not be a easy, pretty solution. Since she doesn't find them to be pretty.

@ Newnoakua The greenery suggestion from pp is a good option if you're not against plants in general!

Maybe you can just do baby's breath for the BMs. Not a traditional "flower" but would still be pretty

Do what's right for your ceremony. It's your day.

I toyed with doing a brooch bouquet, but wasn't ready to commit to creating it. I'm doing arrangements of tissue paper flowers for my reception, maybe you could do bouquets of those? Here's one tutorial (there are many): http://hellocreativefamily.com/how-to-make-diy-giant-tissue-paper-flowers-tutorial/

@ Wendy - No boutonnieres or corsages. I think the puppy was more for laughs than an actual suggestion.

I'll run these past my bridesmaids and get their input too but I really liked some of the options here and it's good to have a few ideas to bounce around

    I. Was. Kidding. Larry.

But it is just as dumb and idea as walking down with puppies. And not as cruel.

Get them dresses with pockets. Problem solved.

If you eschew bouquets, your BMs and GMs can hold their hands behind their back like this. Instead of the whole wrist, they should just clasp 2 fingers in one hand. It's hidden from the audience and keeps their hands occupied.

Edit: the picture didn't upload and I don't know how to add it on mobile.

If you are dead set against them I think the only thing that wouldnt look super awkward would be a clutch or purse

There was a post a couple of weeks of fans from a DIY bride and they were beautiful. They had a vintage look to them. She did an awesome job. Maybe you can find the post in forums. I'm on my phone and can't seem to find it right now.
