So we aren't having any flowers at our wedding. I've been thinking about what the bridesmaids would hold instead of a bouquet then. I've thought about doing clutches or something, but I was wondering if you did something other than a bouquet what did you use or have seen around. I've googled but I like hearing from other people as well. It's not a money thing when it comes to the flowers; I just really hate flowers. So fake flowers or paper flowers aren't what I'm looking for either.

    When I started planning I considered having my BM's carry LED lanterns. My wedding is fall themed and I thought it'd look beautiful with a dusk ceremony time

    But the lanterns would probably get heavy and, while in theory it sounds lovely and elegant, in reality my girls would probably feel awkward and absolutely ridiculous. Of course your BM's are going to say it's okay to use an alternative, they'll want to please you. If you hate flowers so much and refuse to even compromise for them, at least let THEM make suggestions on what they'd like to carry instead.

    I have my maid of honor carrying a candle, one bridesmaid carrying the glass we'll be breaking at the end of the ceremony and the other one carrying a giant rose. You don't need flowers.

    If you're not letting me carry a bouquet as a bridesmaid, the only alternative I'm willing to carry walking down the aisle will be a glass of champagne. That's it.

    What if you did a bouquet made out of book pages or something like that? I've seen some really cool looking ones that were folded to look like flowers.

    I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding were I will be holding a lantern. Its Not heavy, and I think they'll be cute. I don't hate flowers, however I also don't get the obsession with them that everyone seems to have. I would never, as a bridesmaid throw a fit, or even so much as object, to carry whatever the hell you wanted. It's your wedding, and whatever you choose to have them carry will not effect guest comfort (the #1 concern in these forums) in the slightest Find something that you want them to carry that will look cute to YOU.

    What about lanterns? Or signs? Maybe with vows. Clutches are cute tho.

    I'm doing a beaded bouquet. I wanted something different and I'm not a fan of brooch bouquets.

    I agree with previous poster that suggested they just cross their hands in front of them like a groomsmen would. Would that work OP?

    Not everyone likes flowers and it's about you and your special day. If you want your girls to hold something maybe they could hold a sign, or depending on your venue a closed umbrella, or a fan, just do whatever makes you happy for your special day Smiley smile

    @Newnoakua,

    I'm not going to do a ton of flowers overall via decor and brooch (& eco/sola flower) bouquets. Can you share a little more about the geeky jazz? What specifically do y'all have in mind?

    That way we can give you even more suggestions Smiley smile
