Boudoir photos and Kids... ???

Kadisha, on August 24, 2011 at 7:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

Soo I'm thinking about doing a Boudoir photo shoot for my fiance as part of a wedding gift.. I would love to do a huge pic that can hang in our room somewhere.. I want it to be done tastefulllyyyyyyyy nice.. No bootie shots.. or Breast all over the place.. Ravens are his hometown so I would love to do one with his fav player Jersey on.. Also he produces music so I would love to do one with a microphone, headphones, keyboard or something.. Only thing is we have 2 young sons under the age of 5yrs old and a step daughter whom is 12yrs old. Would that be an appropriate picture to have up in our bedroom.. Our 2 young sons are alwaysss in our room my step daughter rarely is but ever so often.. Would that be a pic you would like to walk into your mothers room and see??? or should I do something else like a photo album or something?

Do you have a bathroom attached to your bedroom? i thought of doing the same thing and we dont have kids (yet lol) but i always figured they would be put in our private bathroom that way NO one but us would see them.

i do think it is not appropriate to be displayed somewhere kids of any age will see it.

My friend had this done before her wedding and her photographer put together a photobook with the shots in it.

Agree with above. Anywhere you put it, the kids will find it. I can only imagine how the stepdaughter might feel if she walked in someplace and found it! Instead of just a traditional photo album, could you print it so its similar to a magazine? I was just thinking that might be neat since he is a sports fan! You could be on the cover of Kadisha Illustrated! Smiley smile

Ok my boss' boyfriend had a "sensual" photo on his nightstand (they lived together) and when I house-sat, I slept on her bed and I rolled over and saw it and felt sick to my stomach.. she was clothed and all, but the smexy pose and expression just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Don't do that to your son.

@Jen L, thats what i would be worried about with a "night stand" photo. i have a vanity in our room and my friends are always coming over to get ready, and a sexy picture of me is that last thing they want to see and the last think i want them to see lol. and i would be mortified if FH friends/family accidentally saw it!

@mags! I like that idea as well.. The magazine would be soo cute. But his stepdaughter rarely comes in our room.. I'm not a "come on in my room and sit on my bed with all your clothes on" type of chick.. So anyyyyone that comes to my house knows my room is for me and my fiance.. Door is always closed.. It's private.. But it's hard to keep the 2 young ones out of my bedroom they loveeeee to jump on our bed and half the time we wake up in the morning they are in the bed with us but they never go in my bathroom.. They are only 1yr and 4yrs.. So in the mean time I will keep it in the bathroom.. I love that Idea.

You might also want to do a calendar. I did Boudoir photos for my fh and I had a book and calendar made and he loved both..

No matter how tastefully done, boudoir type photos should not be on display in your home- children or not! They should be in a photo album kept in a private location!

It's your house, but I have to agree with Meghan B. on this one. Even if it's hanging in your master BR's bathroom, your kids will go in there at some point, maybe a friend, neighbor or repairman, etc. Something with a cover that he can access whenever he wants to is a better idea, IMO.

I have to agree with the others, if you two lived by yourselves and had it in your bedroom that would be one thing, but with kids I think a nice photo album is a better idea.

I'm going to be the devil's advocate here... it really depends on what kind of household you have. I'm not against it, but personally I would never do such a thing.

I grew up with a girl whose parents walked around their house naked - they'd run upstairs & put on robes if she had friends over (none of us ever saw them nude) but they had a naked house. They were comfortable with it. They didn't bother anyone else with it. None of us wouldn't have known if the girl didn't tell us all about it. I grew up in a strict Catholic home. No nudity, no short shorts - no spaghetti tank tops, etc. I did not grow up in a naked house. The human body is just that - a body. I've seen bourdoir shots that are very tasteful and nonsexual. Women get the pictures done all the time for different reasons - not just as a wedding gift for their husband. (after loosing weight/after having a baby/for a birthday/etc.) I believe Heidi Klum has a naked picture of herself in her & her husband's bedroom...

My friend did a calender for her hubby, he works as a mechanic in his own at-home buisness. he pinned it up in his office, no customers go in there, just him and his now wife.

I thought that was a pretty good idea.

My Aunt had a almost naked huge picture hanging over her bed when me and my cousins were young. At first it freaked me out then I got used to it. She had a closed door policy to her room too. Even with that we eventually saw it. (she still never took it down...lol).
