BM shaved her hair Bald...OMG

Antonette, on August 6, 2010 at 8:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

One of my BM's shaved her hair Bald. How did I found out? When I saw it of fb yesterday. She called me and said we have a year I'm sure it would grow back by then.I really hope so. I can really see me being a BRIDEZALLA in the end because it seems like there is something new everyday. Why did I think planning a wedding would be easy?

LOL that's awful but totally something you're gonna look at later and laugh...and maybe punch her in the arm.

Hair grows pretty quickly (at least mine does). I cut mine from lower back length to about 2 inches long (I lost 5 lbs in the process lol) and by the end of the first year I had a ponytail again. Just make sure she cuts the bottom...it can start to look like a mullet after a few months. :-D

Holy smokes! Well, yes, in a year, some will grow back! I'd be wanting something in writing that she doesn't plan on doing this again!

No way, if she does it again just get a sharpie out and go to town! She'll be the one looking like a fool, not you!

And if you had barrettes or something for your BP, just glue it to her head. That'll show her.

I have short hair & cutting it off comes very natural to me....my BM is gonna cut her off completely & go natural. Personally, I dont have a problem with it "it'll grow back" BUT I can imagine how shocking it can be to see it on fb as opposed to her telling you about it.

Ha! Well, that's an issue I haven't heard of before.

Most likely, it'll grow back. But even though she's your bridesmaid and will be in the photos, you don't really have the right to tell her what she can or can't do to her personal appearance.

Honestly, I think women look beautiful with very short hair! If I could get away with it, I definitely would, but white girls look ridiculous with shaved heads. On the other hand, there's always extensions!!

I have a bald BM and she was a forcep baby so she has a dent in the back of her head like someone laid their middle finger on her head and pressed hard. LOL!!

That being said, she's my homegirl and I love her. No big deal if she has hair or not. BUT she's been bald for years and it wasn't like I clicked on her FB page and her hair was gone.

I feel like your problem isn't the hair it was the no warning. I would be hurt if she'd cut her hair and not told me, not because of the hair but because going bald is a big step for a woman and she's my bff. I'd tell her before I did something like that

True, but you have to remember that just because she is in your wedding doesn't mean she still isn't living her own life. obviously you asked her to be a part of your day because you cherish her friendship, not because of her hair, right?, lol... i've been thru a bit of drama in my planning (thank God its almost over) and the one thing i've had to keep in prospective is the reason why each of my ladies are involved. i love them and they love me.. if your girl was going thru chemo and had done that you wouldn't flip, right?? so.. take it in stride, i'm sure she'll have a really nice do for you come your big day, and besides, there are a ton of really beautiful women who are bald and/or rock super short cuts Smiley smile

I have had a shaved head a number of times in the past--and as OpsieDaisy says, being in a wedding doesn't mean that people give up their own lives (especially when the wedding is a year away, but really, the timing isn't the issue). I can understand being surprised, but if she decides she really likes it and wants to keep it that way, you may have to just get used to it. I don't think anyone has the right to dictate someone else's hair.

I wouldn't stress too much. She could always wear a wig or get extensions, and some women look really great with short hair.

She do look great with the cut. It's NOT the hair at all it's me pulling up fb and seeing the cut. I had a talk with her and from our convo it's something she wanted and felt needed to do. I was pissed because of the way I found out. She is a beautiful woman with or without hair. I just wished I had a heads up(no point intended) lol

@Shaunie..your aunt looks hot with a shaved head! I could never pull it off.

@Antonette, I wouldn't stress..hair grows an inch every 3 months so her hair should be a good short length by the wedding as long as she doesn't shave it again. Smiley smile
