Best Pen for addressing wedding invitations?!

Sarah, on January 22, 2015 at 10:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Hey all! I was wondering if you have any recommendations on a good type of pen for addressing the wedding invites? I'm looking for a shimmery brown. My envelopes are an ivory color and invitations have brown writing with brown shimmery mountains on them.

Andy tips would be great! Smiley smile

Thinking of going to Michaels this week.

I literally took part of your sentence and put it into google.

To me it would depend on your envelope surface. Take an extra one with you to Michaels and ask them. I have matching kraft paper envelopes for all my invitations, STDs, etc. I am using a colored, ulra-fine point sharpie

I used a regular ball point pen. I had hand surgery and I keep refilling this particular pen because it is easy to write with.

I don't have a specific recommendation but I will recommend getting something waterproof and test it on a sample before you address them all. I bought calligraphy pens from Michael's for my stds. I tested them on a sample of the paper and they speared like crazy if it got slightly damp. I went to joann's and bought a similar pen that was waterproof and didn't have a problem. You don't want something that will smear or rub off in the mail.

I'm printing the labels. I'm to lazy to hand address each invite. I did it with the STD and no way and I doing that again lol

Natalie, how did it turn out using the calligraphy pens? I actually learned calligraphy at one time, not anything crazy fancy or anything, but was thinking about getting calligraphy pens to do mine myself. Was it hard to use the pens?

Melissa I learned calligraphy back in 7th grade (lol) but I'm sure that it will come back, especially if you have the right pen.

I managed to convince my sister to address mine (she has better writing) but we are just a thin black sharpie.

If you have the money, get a flex nib pen. Then go to a shop and get pretty ink - like Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses or J. Herbin Hematite Rouge.

I used the Sakura Pigma Micron 05. I thought it worked really well, and have been using it to write thank you notes as well. Mine is in black, but I'm pretty sure it comes in brown (although not shimmery). It's archival ink, so it's waterproof, and it looks really nice on paper.
